I'll admit I've been called "sexy", "beautiful", etc, more than once. I got all dolled up one time with some girlfriends, and they all said I looked glamorous as a movie star - at first I thought they were making fun of me being too done-up or something, but soon realized they actually thought I looked pretty as a movie star. Once, I'll never forget, I dressed up so hot that when I walked into a room with 100+ people in it, everyone stopped what they were saying mid-sentence - total silence. That was crazy.
But more often, boys will say that they are "scared of me" or will totally freeze up when I try to talk to them or other things that I now realize means they are attracted to me but too intimidated to say so. I have not the slightest idea why I come across as intimidating, and on questioning them, they've always heartily denied that I looked in any way unfriendly or not-nice, so I don't really get it.
If I don't do the hair and make-up and a cute outfit though, I get no attention. And the attention I do sometimes get is meaningless. I'm 37, in New York City, and I can't get a date. I haven't had a boyfriend or even just sex (though I've had a few dates) in years. So for those of you saying you don't get the compliments, they're not all they're cracked up to be.
ETA: The woman in my avatar is not me, in case anyone was thinking so.
Who is that on your avatar?
