What I find a little disturbing about this discussion is the assumption that there's a "perfect" body type that all women should aspire to have, and all men find attractive; and that the only thing we need to settle is which type that is.

Would it be outrageous of me to suggest that fit, healthy women naturally have a range of body types, and that men differ in their preferences?

There is no "perfect" body type. But it's silly to think some attributes aren't more appealing than others. To each their own, only goes so far...we're still bound by our primal instincts. Men want a healthy looking Woman because on some level they know she'll be a good mate to have children with.

Iuhno, it's a complicated mix of self-opinion and instinct.

Yes. But "healthy" comes in different sizes.

Except for fetishists, men don't generally appreciate skeletal or obese women. But there's a range of "normal" that is still healthy, and that men find attractive.

If you want proof, just look at the couples around you.

It's also irritating that nobody seems to have a problem with the idea that MEN come in a range of sizes which WOMEN can find attractive. :?

Missing my point. We all want what we want, whatever that may be. But you generally don't see men drooling over musclebound Amazon women, and you don't see women fawning over a guy that looks more feminine than they could ever be.

There are certain traits that are just appealing, no matter the spin you'd put on it. Look at couples around me for proof? Proof of what? Far too many variables to take into account to say that's genuinely what they want.

I digress. Of course we all have our preferences, but it's absurd to say there isn't some form of "perfection" from which it all stems.

*Sensing feminist rage* Isn't that more the fault of the woman, rather than the man?

Which leads to the absurd result of these endless and unendable arguments about what that "perfection" is. To wit:

"What I like is perfect."

"No! What I like is perfect!"

Etc. Etc. Etc.

Oh, absolutely. If we weren't all so maddened by rage, we'd be sensibly spending our days having the exact same argument. ;)

Slightly Upset Woman Declared Insane

Well, yeah...that was my original fogged over point to this: No one is perfect, perfect doesn't exist, but we still hold an idiosyncratic definition for it. Or else the word wouldn't exist

The only problem with second one being "naturally skinny" is that her pelvic bones are hanging out. I too have a friend who's very slender, the only problem is, I don't see any of her bones protruding out like that. My first impression of her was someone who literally came out of the holocaust. Model industry or not, it's kind of creepy looking. There are many healthy slender ppl out there BTW that don't look like that.

So you don't think that picture has been retouched?

Go on youtube, look at any videos on the Size 0 debate.
The average height and weight of models at present is 5'11 and 117 ibs.
Many are as low as 105 ibs.
I have seen worse looking ones than the one in this article.

It is not retouched, this was actually on television.

I believe you. I love to look at clothing, I usually look into Vogue or other magazines. Fashion shows creep me out anymore, I didn't know why at first but this topic is probably why. Some of the women on there don't look like normal thin models, they look anoerexic. Like I said, that bone protruding is what iks me out. I just can't understand, and I know this is coming from me, how anyone can go through with that. I use to have a period when I did that and it just made me physically and mentally sick. It's now something I wouldn't think about doing. Not to mention that starving or not eating enough for nourishment can lead to a slow metabolism. People can actually gain more weight than they did before by messing with their metabolism like that.

Of course... women find men of any size attractive, so long as he has 4 mansions and a personal value of at least 50 million dollars... A private jet helps too...

If you'd just read my PM it would be a lot clearer. And ooohhh, passive-aggressive. I like.
