My twin brother has never had a drivers licence or a car. He had a learners a couple times but HATES driving due to extreme anxiety issues regarding it. It’s ironic that his world is so small and limited here due to transit, but he’s travelled all over the world.
But the thing is, he lives with his girlfriend and has never once complained that his lack of driving made him undateable. Sly’s perception is that a vehicle is a baseline requirement of women, so, that is why people are encouraging him to strive for wheels again. Because all the other things he has to do and become in order to afford a car will also make him much more datable.

It’s all of the above. Maturity/having your s**t together, finances, social status, job, home, and yes the car itself - cars make our modern lives MUCH more convenient. A car itself represents a whole lot to someone else, so, those who do not have them fall into the much less datable category. The car itself, or lack of, is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what it communicates to a potential partner.

I once bought a car for $1,400, cash, and it ran for at least five years. My wife gave the car to one of her relatives after we had it around four years. I heard stories about it working for at least another year.
It was a 1990 Mercury Tracer, bought about 1999.
Cars haven't gone up that much in cost over 20 years.
That's impossible!
So were all the cars I've bought & driven around for cheap, cheap, too.
C'mon kk, if it didn't cost at least $18k USD & wasn't bought brand new then it didn't happen!! !
*Obviously I'm just messin' with sly with this post. Sly, our points are one in the same: There are plenty of used cars that are very reliable for a low price. That's simply reality no matter what your distorted perceptions are making you believe. Your thoughts on the matter are simply symptomatic of your depression & anxiety and should serve as further evidence to yourself that you ought to get those things under control. Not only will it make simple conversations about cars better for you, but every aspect of your life - including your "datability factor."
So your experience invalidates mine and my families experiences? My uncle said have bough probaby20 cars in my life time. My friend Shave gone through cars too. Auntlabby apparent has also gone through cars, so all these experiences are invalid even cause yiu had one or two good car experiences?
