Just because theres some that do doesnt mean they all do. Yet they are usually stereotyped as such. Ive seen just as many rude foreign tourists as i have rude american tourists. You claimed to understand the problem with generalizations, and then in the very next post, fail to understand.

See the difference?

You're also claiming you're just as polite, then demonstrating by competitvely snarking, threatening people with bombs, swearing at people, "don't mess with me", "this is how we play now" etc like you're a keyboard Scarface or something, just because someone happened to mention Canadians are perceived as polite. There's more than a little irony here!!

It means a lot of things, even to one person. I consider myself "a lady", but not in the sense that I'm demure or uncomfortable with sex, or that I dress very modestly or anything. To me, it means mature interests---interests beyond local gossip, reality TV, and "hey, look what my kid just did!". It means taking a scholarly interest in new things, owning my femininity, caring for my appearance, and enjoying what is here to be enjoyed in life. :)

you are failing to see the problem here, as I have no issue with generalizations because i accept they dont count for a majority. But unlike me many people here fail to see that. Yet they still propagate generalizations that are positive to their own "X". Im saying either we can generalize or we cant. And if were going to play the cant game then we dont generalize for either good or bad.

You couldn't tell the difference between a generalization and a statement about tendencies. Bit of an issue there, I think.

how is that a generalization? This was a time when two countries had enough power to kill everything on the slip of a finger. Im quite certain nobody wanted to mess with either of them

yep. saying dont mess with me is not a threat. Saying im going to f**k you up for no reason is.

1- where have i confused the two
2- a statement about tendencies IS A GENERALIZATION. Ducks have a tendency to fly in formation and ducks fly in formation both are generalizations. The difference is you can either be incredibly anal about wording or you can just accept as i have that generalizations dont cover a whole range unless specified.

you spoke of the way that you believe other people saw americans in the reagan era, just like i spoke of the way people generally view canadians. same=same. i don't think either statement is necessarily wrong, but they are parallel.

Ive never said there was. Ive met rude americans. However unlike what was said im sure its not like theres no rude canadians. All im proclaiming is that we have an equal ratio or rude to polite people. How is that so evil of me?
