A True Nice Person
Okay, Boo. World Bank says youth unemployment in Lebanon is at 34%, and the general unemployment rate is at 24%. Are you telling me with a straight face that a third of young men can't get a date? And this is in a place where only 20% of the workforce is women, so plainly the idea is that the woman does the at-home wife/mother thing and there'd be pressure on the men to be able to support the women. But I am still seriously doubting that young women are ignoring one third of young men.
I'm thinking there's factors other than employment that come into it.
I am all for true egalitarianism, but come on, one shouldn't be that stupid and blind. Call me sexist-generalizing-minded if you want but I am ultra-pragmatic, and I just tell and analyze what I observe around me, it's not me who built this world, and I know one thing for sure when it comes to dating/relationship: man's occupation is very crucial, and unemployment is big no.
Saying otherwise is...

Yes, I am telling you with a straight face and in full confidence, third of the Lebanese guys can't date, at least the above-25 adult ones, maybe the hottest ones (just asumptions, I don't know any) do short terms but probably that's it.
Don't worry about the women, there's no shortage of foreigner suitors and lebanese immigrants.

And I guess this is why the internet is burning up with posts and stories about the desperate no-dates situation of young Lebanese men. Because heartless b*****s.
What I'm actually seeing is the same thing I see for everyplace else: youth unemployment rates are very high, adult kids live at home, they can't afford to get married and go off on their own, but do they still date and have relationships...yep. When it goes on long enough even the parents stop harping on the daughters to find one with a job, and make room for the couple to live with them. We've had those stories out of Spain, Italy, Greece for most of a decade now.

It seems like then that the whole world economic system is failing then.

It's been pretty bad for a while. It's also not like anybody understands how much of it works, and it's all gotten harder since everyone's got internet access and you just can't pillage odd corners of the world the way you used to without everyone knowing in under 72 hours. Used to be like cake repair: slather the ugly cake up with frosting, slather the failing economy with loot from a looted country.
I think that's actually the difficult thing: World Leaders(tm) can't just get in front of the cameras and shrug and say, "Actually we have no clue, we just have overpaid nerds writing white papers for us. We go by that. They don't get out much, so likely what they're handing us is mostly crap. But if you can arrange a campaign donation I'm sure it'll help the odds of that military base staying where it is." The scariest ones are the ones with Economic Ideas. That's what worried me about Obama: he's not actually all that smart, but he's not mentally meh in a canny, I-know-what-people-are way; he's got this hero worship of just the dopiest academics.
This video made the rounds a few years ago - I really liked it. It was produced by some Ron-Paul-type nuts, but I still think it's pretty good. And I've enjoyed reading Hayek anyway, the tea partiers don't seem to understand what he was saying.

Pragmatically, not having a job does make dating more difficult for men. Women who have jobs will often be concerned about having to support the guy his whole life, and women who don't have jobs will often wonder how the pair can survive at all with neither working. BUT, exceptions exist, and I've seen them. There are few absolutes in this world, especially when it comes to dating, and there really is no point in anyone allowing themselves to be defeated before they've even tried. Odds are just that: odds. They are not any one person's reality.

As if the internet is not full of stories about desperate no-dates of American/Canadian men whining about their no-date state and blaming it on "heartless b*****s"- your point?
But for how long? Eventually most women would want to get married at some point in life. Also the more marriage-oriented society is, the harder, why else do you think Indian men work everywhere?

Ok sly279, you heard her, stay unemployed and live on the hope of becoming an exception.
Btw DW_a_mom you are falsely assuming that most unemployed men don't try dating.

I am not assuming anything. I am advocating for not giving up even when you know your road has become longer and steeper.
As I said, I've SEEN the exceptions and odds are NOT any one person's reality. I just think it is unfair not to admit that unemployment does usually make things more difficult.

they say don't contact unless have these things.... one being have a job. SO i can't try unfortunately.
3 women have contacted me this week tough. it's been months, they always come in groups then all lose interest in me, I don't know when to ask one out and I feel stressed and worried. and some have been able to break my concentration to not get happy. :'(
I don't know what it is like in other countries, but a lot of people can work but simply can't be bothered.
There are always jobs on job sites here, also you can door knock and ask people. That's how I got most of my jobs.
I know of a guy who keeps doing courses simply because he doesn't want to get a job, and I don't find that very attractive.
Women like ambition, but it's evened out by men valuing looks.
Finding a job is hard, bloody hard. There are several times in my life where I didn't have one. But the difference is I expected people to not want to date me without a job, and lived with it.
Having a good job isn't everything...jobs don't make friends or develop relationships. I have pretty much the best job that someone my age could hope for...it certainly helps me get my foot in the door with meeting people and getting dates and such, but after that it doesn't seem to be of much value.
I think that a lack of a job isn't so much a problem if you have ambition, goals, and direction in life, but if you are just stagnantly sitting in the same place then it can definitely make things hard (not only dating-wise but also with life in general).

from what I gather you don't really care for social interaction and people and can therefore do without.
I amd on the extreme side of craving and needing social interaction. I have been without a permanent job for my whole life. I wasn't allowed to have a job while in school and I was too shy/not too interested in girls while in middle school (everyone was out to get me including my abusive best friend.). During high school I was interested but too afraid to talk to people from the bullying i got.
I bascially missed out on my chance to have a gf that most other people got and at the same time my early work experience.

what does that even mean. I hate those words. surely there are alot of people that just go with the flow of life?
none of my post high school goals worked out, so i don't have any except to find a steady job and love.

Well you just mentioned a few of your goals, so you do have some of those! Ambition is how high you set those goals, and direction is whether or not you know what you need to do (and are currently doing it) to achieve those goals. From reading your posts, you just need some direction in life to help you out of your current rut.
