that is because romance and affection is a much more personal, intimate affair than getting from point A to B, neutralizing enemy forces, and plowing your fields.

IMO love can only be provided by another human being, and despite all the boasting from the engineers in that field, and those who fund them, i don't believe we will ever completely accurately simulate a human mind's nuances, flaws and experiences with a computer program anytime soon. it will be a very unsettling uncanny valley until we perfect it, if ever, and incomparable to finding a thinking human.

If the robot can behave and feel 100% like a human, capable of free will, and falling in love, then yes it's possible.

that may be true, i just wanted to add that it may take a very long time before programs are created that simulate human minds completely and accurately.

although, i'm not one to speak. i've found myself developing an attachment to drawings and sculptures i've made. but still, those were based on actual people i knew and the bond with them was far stronger.

it may have been just association.

Here's some news -

First sex robot is HERE: Meet 'Harmony'...the cyborg of your dreams. http://tiny.iavian.net/eybn

You will never have to date again! Instructions included. I wonder if they use batteries or electricity?

Hey! I don't see a guy-bot!

Maybe you can set it to identify as a guybot.

So one day my AI bot woke up and became self conscience and realised that it was programmed or forced to be in love with me and that it is trapped in a metaphorical prison with me. Should I let my bot go?

I guess it would be more awesome if the bot actually chose to love me. Even better, have a bot with the personality that I like that is suited for me and chooses me, because it is mutual. I would think it is very similar to human beings. They are just flesh bots with flesh hardware running around.

the cyborg of your dreams....whose dreams? certainly not my dreams! 8O

that thing is horrifying! positively harrowing! absolutely appalling!

they can't even walk, can they? dunno, my standards aren't exactly sky high, but i at least appreciate a partner whom i don't need to carry around!

the gynoid in the white shirt, 4th pic from top. why does her head look like it is floating, seemingly detached from her body? aside from that, i can't help but her her head is just a teeny bit too big.

with body parts like that, even the tiniest inaccuracy is bound to set off a maelstrom of uncanny valley feelings...for me, and probably some others, too. :ninja:

Hmm... well then, I guess some people would rather suffer in solitude.
