Almost no one is going to pay fairly for what I know, certainly not anyone over 40, so why would I become more attractive by trapping myself in their MO? It's already a mess, how many here seriously believe we can keep using money this same way for the next decade?

I'm afraid I don't quite understand your point. How does this relate to the thread topic?
I'm a baby boomer. Some in my age cohort don't have a care in the world, but many/most of us are nervous about our retirement and whether we will be able to afford medical care, food, and housing. Not because of mistakes we have made, but because of political shifts.
