Well here is the link to the original post for those confused by the subliminal implication of this thread.

I'm actually surprised a guy would post a pic without knowing what this thread was about.

I mean if it were me, I'd be pissed.

This thread has definitely showed my the differences between guys and ladies...And guys frankly don't give a damn!

Not true, check some previous pages in this thread again ...some guys were seriously pissed off.

Maybe guys are more willing to post their pics on a public thread because they are less afraid of stalkers.

Then again, in the female one, we already started off with some knit-pickers after about 2 posted picks by the females.

One thing I notice about guys is I don't think they're aware how rude or snarky they come off when they suggest how a lady could improve on her looks.

That's called honesty , not rudeness.

I even saw one guy comment to one female member that she was too old for him or else he'd date her.

I dunno who the guy was but this was surely a compliment.

I don't know about you, but I'd be a bit offended. Not because of the honesty but for lack of insight as to how that might affect the member who put themselves in a vulnerable spot. Then again, I'm a sensative person....and I'm not ashamed to say it as opposed to other aspies and auties.

We all have this vulnerable spot that you're talking about (except the super hot people) , but still I would prefer a honest feedback.

Could be women are more sensative to their own flaws as opposed to the other's. Not sure if this is based on biological factors or societal ones. For one, we are constantly bombarded by super models and hot chicks in ads, commercials, and even comedy as opposed to the few average or everday looking women I've seen in shows for instance, Rosanne.

Not only women are 'bombarded' by super models and hot examples , men too. Why do you think for instance the growing trend for hairless-body guys? hairy body was not seen as gross years ago but it is seen so gross today by most women. Not to mention the dark taint,fit-body trends...etc.

And if women are more influenced than men by the female models in the media, don't you think that their tastes toward men are also influenced by the male models in the media and that would backfire on the majority of men too?

Quote:
I find the proportion of these women seemingly higher than that of the zoolanders Guys seem to get away with a lot more stuff in the media being regardles of how fat or older they look...that's not to say there aren't any attractive men but damn, they get most of the good parts without having to try so hard Even in the news, I can't help but notice the differences in age among the cast.
<rant>

That's because women choose to do plastic surgeries to remain 'young' and not to maintain their careers. Oprah for instance would remain famous if she didn't do any plastic surgery but she chose to do it because she simply wants that.

^ I agree with the Prince.

I might be slightly hurt if someone said something uncomplimentary about my pics but I'm not nearly delusional enough to think that everyone should find me attractive anyway lol. *shrug* I'd rather hear honesty and it's ok if some guys don't like how I look. It's to be expected.

Exactly. Even if it were titled "Biggest Idiot of WP", and I felt like joining in, I would. It must be our herd mentality. :lmao:

LPP, Perhaps you're taking my thread out of context or want to debate all day about this obsession with genders..... :?

I never said men weren't bombarded with the same crap as women but there is a higher degree of it among women than there is with men.

And some women like hairy guys. I couldn't say guys would go for the same thing in a woman. Double standard there...

Also there is honesty but to what degree when it doesn't just get plain rude? I don't think telling someone what they can't help about themselves is going to do much as opposed to other tasks that could require improvement. This isn't exactly American Idol HERE! So basically you're saying that calling someone ugly is only honest but not rude?
Maybe there are some things people shouldn't be honest about...since I have some in mind. Even I'm guilty of stereotyping.... but I usually keep it to myself only cuz I'd get eaten. Much of the generalizations I see here I could use the same in other subjects but...some of those are seen as just plain wrong and immoral.

And I don't mean offended as in delusional. I mean can you honestly say you wouldn't be a little hurt if someone called you a nasty name?

Anyway.....

Uh no Oprah did not have plastic surgery.

I think it would be better if this thread were locked and forgotten myself. All these thread have done is hurt people's feelings when they don't get the response they might have been hoping for. This is not the kind of place for that. We come here to escape that BS we get in the real world.

To set the record straight, all people are attractive to someone. One person may not find you attractive but another may see you as the most gorgeous person alive. Not one person on this site or the planet has the right to say someone is not attractive at all just because they think so.

Who... :?

I hope I didn't just ruin this thread.

Ignore me if I have.

^ Nah, I was just giving my opinion on what I thought was going on here. You're alright. :)

But I do think threads like this make some guys feel bad if they aren't listed. I imagine the same is true for the other one as well. I'm not even sure how to word what I want to say at this point. :?

I concur. I still think this thread has been mostly positive.. but .. I don't want to be part of making anyone feel bad so I guess I'll let this one go the way of the female thread :?

I think everybody that posted their pic got compliments in one form or another. :chin:

I just read through some of the other posts and I seemed to have missed a few other points. So much for my opinion.

Hmm, when you put it that way the compliments seem even more hollow... 8O

Well, look at it this way....guys aren't afraid to say "wow, you're hot" when a girl posts their pic. But, when a guy posts his pic, girls are afraid they might look slu*ty or something(to other girls), so they keep their compliments minimal. :)

*sigh*

Oh well, guess it'll happen anyway. Go ahead and post, not that I could stop it.

Actually, I think I may have killed the mood of this thread.

Wow, you sure you aren't a woman?

That's exactly how I feel whenever a guy posts a pic but I don't want to come off creepy or sound like I'm hitting on them.

....and I thought it was just me..... 8O
