The field of human nutrition disagrees with you. Protein deficiency outside caloric deficiency is virtually-unheard of, Western obsession with animal products aside. I can agree about carbs, though I can't imagine eating north of 1,000 calories of much of anything.

Unless you have a thyroid problem, what Wolfheart said works for everybody. I managed to go from 265 lbs to 160 lbs simply by going for walks and cutting alcohol and bread from my diet. I then bulked up to 200 lbs with no significant fat gains in less than a year, with 6 hours of exercise every week. With my current activity level, I can eat all the high protein food I want without getting fat.

If only 7 billion people were all identical to your circumstances.

While my peers can eat bread, drink alcohol and all that without getting fat, I can't. This never meant that I was doomed to being fat, but that I needed less food (and more specifically carbs) than most people. They may have their fast metabolisms, but instead of whining, I used my slow metabolism to build muscle more rapidly than most other people.

Again, if only 7 billion people were all identical to your circumstances.

Arguing about whether someone is "doomed" to be fat is irrelevant to the original comment I responded to: whether being able or willing to achieve a certain size means someone is more or less deserving of a romantic relationship.

Protein defiency is not unheard of among picky eaters here in Norway. I have plenty of sources to back up my claims regarding the benefits of protein, but they're written in Norwegian and not English.

Pretty much everyone in Western-Europe, Australia, Northern America or richer countries in Latin America, Asia and Eastern Europe have access to equally healthy food. I'm genetically blessed when it comes to muscle gain, but most people could probably lose fat easier than me.

The laws of thermodynamics are the same everywhere in the universe. Some humans have a more dynamic metabolism than others (meaning that if they were to increase their caloric intake, the body will compensate more for it by increasing the metabolism), but everyone the same size needs the same amount of calories to maintain their body temperature.

Men have a higher testosterone levels within their ideal fat ranges and women are more fertile within their ideal fat ranges. Who "deserves" a relationship and who does not is besides the point.

The average North American already eats over TEN TIMES the protein they need. A good vegetarian/vegan diet (no, I'm not one) will have the necessary beans, etc, to supply all the protein a person needs. Even a bodybuilder can live without the stupid #$@% whey-powder "suppliments" and junk sold to betas-who-wish-they-were-alphas desperate to bulk up quick.

That said, I know I eat too many carbs but sugar's my real weakness! Last time I gave up only refined sugar, I dropped over 10lbs in a couple weeks without so much as breathing harder than usual. :)

The point I tried to make earlier (that was ignored because it ruined a good theory) is that a mesomorph body type will have those awesome results as seen in the pictures. A skinny ectomorph might become skinny again on your recommended workout and powerful, but he'll be skinny instead of the bulk you boast (and many women can't help but like.) A squishy octomorph can work like hell at this P-90-whatever thing and eat nothing but healthy food - he'll still be pudgy, only with some good muscles and endurance at the same time.
All the while, the skinny endomorph and jiggly octomorph are being mocked by the mesomorphs for "not working as hard". Not so - those two need to work much, much harder to get the same results a mesomorph would. Only mesomorphs get all bulky and muscular by default.

How could that be? If your calorie intake is lower than what you burn a day, you're bound to lose some weight, no?
I've lost 14 pounds from 126 to 112 once, just by limiting my daily calorie intake to 1500 cal, no exercise.

You're thin now. How did you lose weight? If you don't mind my asking.
sounds tome as if she were overtraining plus under eating(starving herself)and her body reacted paradoxically.

"Picky eaters"....gotcha.
Yeah, gimme your "source" on the benefits of protein-
I'll give you mine from every dietetic association on Earth refuting your original claim that by virtue of no animal products, one can't get adequate amounts.

If only. What does the same "size" even mean? Dress size? Wtf are we talking about?

Therein lies the rub. People have different metabolisms. Common sense.
Congratulations on the weight loss.

I'm not "thin" by aesthetic standards, and I have a very high body fat percentage.
I saw an endocrinologist who prescribed a weight loss medication, which seemed to change my metabolism enough so that I could eat SOMETHING daily, albeit not much.
Both endocrinologists I've seen said that just as some people can eat thousands daily and not gain, others will remain obese on a couple hundred, if that.
Which is in keeping with common sense, but still utterly-unhelpful.

I feel like this thread should have the first few pages deleted and then the rest moved to Health, Fitness, and Sports.

I never said that. Many vegans are malnourished, though—and given that soy is high in estrogen like hormones, getting enough protein to gain muscle when you're a vegan is tough.

Food deserts simply mean that it's more than ten miles to the nearest grocery store. I travel more than that to the university everyday, in the 2. sh1ttiest public transport system in Europe.

Litteral size. Two people at 5'5" and 130 lbs with the same fat free mass are roughly equal in terms of size.

Perhaps. I've been trying to steer it back to the original fat shaming comment where the divergence started.

Sorry we're not all born muscular mesomorphs... We can keep the worst of the excess fat or skinniness away, but it takes a LOT more effort than what mesomorphs need to put in for their physique.
i was 5'8 110 and couldnt do 1 female style pushup or do 1 rep of the empty barbell for bench before i started lifting.I also have low testosterone levels. I will never be a world champion or even as god as lots of people who train less hard but i still have a great body. when i weighed only 179 i dled 445

I'd be interested in your source. Not that it matters, since your original claim was about the nutritional adequacy of VEGANISM, not the health of a few individuals who meet that description. (What is that, the...third time you've moved the goal post?) But yeah.

Red meat is sky high in cholesterol.
What does that have to do with omnivorism?
Nothing!
Because red meat isn't required to be an omnivore. :)

There's more of that first world obliviousness.
And no, food deserts are places where healthy food access is limited by food knowledge, physical access, or financial access.

And how exactly would you get one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight without soy or rice protein?

Financial matters are besides the point, as no country has cheaper food or transportation in terms of purchasing power than the US.

I like where this post has gone but it has strayed a little from the original topic at hand.

Valentine, I am impressed with your knowledge on the subject of nutrition.

Have you heard about the Paleo Diet/Solution?

Yes, I know people have different metabolisms. I know that it is common sense.

What I did not know though, is that any human (an adult who is not bed ridden or in a coma) can live on basal metabolic rate of a couple hundred calories a day. Maybe your specialists were just exaggerating, but if it's true that's incredible.

it's probably a confidence thing as usual, hate how women don't need confidence but men do
