Peacesells, interestingly enough when I was single, I was a dating a divorced single parent who seemed to think virgins were the only worthwhile women....we broke it off as I grew tired of his fundamentalist Christian viewpoints. He believed the sex act defiled the woman....so no doubt he would keep going through females. This hang-up on virginity was more of a sick fetish.

My mother in law was insistent on a Virgin for her son....so yeah I had my fill of it.

Ah, so I was actually right, as always. I need to trust my instincts more. :P

If a player chooses only to date virgins....his prerogative. Big question is he honest with these women about his status? Women need to be able to make an informed decision. Plus some women DON'T want an inexperienced man....

Why would anyone expect a player to be honest? :o

I could say the same about people who reject smokers, of course if they fall in love they won't mind that much. But if they refuse to date them they will have less chances of falling for them.

You may be surprised to learn that some women do believe in this stud/slut thing too.

Reporter: Suppose your son turned 18 and said he wants to sleep with a girl he loves. What would you say?

Nadine: Go for it, certainly. He’s a man!

R: You allow a man but not a woman to do so?

N: Yes! He’s a man. If a man doesn’t get experience, he will be a 40 year old who won’t satisfy his wife. Marriage shouldn’t happen early for a man in my books.

R: But Nadine, religion equates men and women in that they are both not supposed to engage in premarital sex.

N: Yes, I agree. But at the end of the day, this is a boy. Boys cannot be shamed for this. You can’t tell a boy not to do such things. If he doesn’t, he doesn’t mature. You feel he has a weak personality if he doesn’t sleep or date women. Sex or no sex, love or not, fun or not. This is a boy. He needs to have his adventures in order to grow.

R: You’re saying this as a girl with a strong personality.

N: Yes, I’m not with equality between men and women.

R: Why?

N: I want women to stay women. If they equate me with a man, I’d feel like a man. I don’t want to. I want to stay a woman.

I'm not surprised. I'm aware that women sometimes hold such notions as well.

For the religious, I think that emphasis on virginity is problematic for two reason. First, OT virginity was only a way to ensure that a woman’s children were her husband’s. Israelite Law stressed the importance of bloodlines. Virginity was their preferred way of preserving those lines.

This is completely irrelevant in our time. The only purpose it serves is as an outward sign that a woman belongs 100% in every way to her husband. While it is very special that two people give themselves completely to each other, there is much more to a person than their level of experience. What you want in a partner is your business. But making it a religious argument over the real worth of a person is entirely superficial.

The other problem is that throughout the Bible sex is dealt with as a moral issue. Here you have to contend with the fact that EVERYTHING in the Bible is a moral issue. So if you have a problem with someone who has had sex, do you hold yourself to the same standard any time you told a lie? Broken a promise? Cheated on income tax? Stolen something, or borrowed an item you didn’t return? Behaved selfishly? Refused to tithe? Ignored a panhandler/lied about not having any money/judged a homeless person for being an addict/mentally ill?

I mean...if it’s about morality, then NONE of us were ever virgins to begin with, and it has nothing to do with sexual experience.

The Bible only makes a big deal about sex under very special circumstances. In fact, when death is attached as a penalty for unmarried sex, it typically goes back to preserving the bloodlines I mentioned earlier in which causing doubt as to who the father is was tantamount to attempted murder. Beyond that, premarital sex according to the law never calls for the death penalty. The Bible seems to wink at it, and fixing it is simple: either stop it or get married.

I won’t lie. I’ve had four virgins. With one exception I quite enjoyed it. My first time was with a virgin. One was a girl whose fiancé “came out” and dumped her. The third...that’s complicated. The fourth was a college freshman while I was in grad school. If I had it to do all over I’d make different choices. But the last one was truly beautiful because I’d never been with someone that inexperienced who could really let go and just instinctively let her body do what it was made to do. It’s too emotional for a lot of girls, I think, and the third girl I mentioned tensed up and became a dead fish. So I just think experience doesn’t have quite so much to do with it as how we’re taught to feel about it. Ideally two people would mate for life and grow into the experience together without a frame of reference and with the understanding that it’s supposed to be pleasurable and that your body already knows what to do.

Experience, whether in the bedroom or just dating, is something we all start without. Unless there’s a legit reason why experience is important, it’s really nobody’s business. Don’t ask, don’t tell. If a man rejects a woman because she’s NOT a virgin, I can understand. That’s fine. But a virgin who’s just throwing herself at a guy? If being a virgin means certain rejection and perpetual virginity, I just wouldn’t bother mentioning it. Same if you’re a guy. If you’re inexperienced and that’s the problem, you’re stuck because you can’t even GET experience. At that point I think the rules are stacked against you and you owe nobody any explanations.

If everyone would keep this within a marriage context, it would be less complicated. Everybody knows how this ends up. The guy finally gets everything in the right spot and the orgasm hits almost immediately. It’s gross. It’s totally unromantic and buzzkill. And then it’s funny. Ok, so you just talk for the next 30 minutes after she stops laughing and you stop laughing at yourself and you and try again, with a little more foreplay for her so she gets off first. Then you slow down and it starts to get kinda fun. And all you remember is how beautiful the whole thing was.

People make entirely too much of a big deal about this.

Anyway....I am with Peacesell's logic in this thread. Why?

Because you can't prevent people of having hypocritical preferences, they are hypocritical but are still legit preferences that you can do nothing about.

If we use the OP's logic then we can find tons of 'hypocritical' preferences common in the opposite sex too:

- It is hypocritical if a poor girl wants to date only rich guys.
- It is hypocritical if an unemployed girl want to date only employed guys.
- It is hypocritical if a short girl wants to date only tall guys.
- It is hypocritical if a non-White girl wants to date only White guys.
...etc

- The non-virgin guy who wanting to marry only virgin girls is as hypocritical preference as the above examples.

But still, you can do nothing about them; unless you become a dictator god over humanity.

 I keep reading this thread's title as "Guys That Want Virgin Mary Putty"

which is doubtless a Freudian error, since putty is an amorphous drab material, and also a euphemism for a person who can easily be manipulated/shaped (She's putty in his hands).

I don't think Dali ever painted any malleable Madonnas, more's the pity. Would illustrate this post perfectly. This is the best I can do:

Not sure what your problem with me is, Peaceshells but I don't gaf what you think.

Ditching my misogynist boyfriend was a good move along with telling my mother to get a love life of her own.

Hey Boo, why were we not talking about all the preferences? Because this thread was about the douchebags that only want virgins....

Hm, I thought that my last comment here was polite and we were using playful tones?

And I have no idea why you think that in my opinion it was good to date him. As a matter of fact you are the one here who was dating him.

Yeah I was 18 when I dated him. I learned from him for sure.

I’m not sure why people want to be with virgins. It is usually not a great experience or so I’ve heard.
