Just weighed myself at 163 pounds which at my height of 5ft7 3/4 would make me overweight according to the calculator.

However BMI does NOT take into account muscle which is why overweight can be very hard to define really.

And muscle is heavier than fat. ;)

if you're a man and your waist size is over 40" you are overweight. basically if you can pinch more than an inch of loose flabby midsection flesh, you're overweight. if your thighs rub together, you're overweight. if you have a dunlap, you're overweight. not you, specifically, but anybody in general who meets these definitions.

I’m overweight, then :)

My waist is about 36 inches. I meet all the other criteria.

Overweight doesn’t necessarily mean out of shape. I’ve been walking 40 or more miles a week at 4 mph for 2 months now. I now walk 7.5 miles a day, every day.

I’m not “in shape”—but I‘m not “out of shape,” either.

^your walking regimen is excellent. you may want to have another look at your diet, however, if despite all that walking your weight isn't budging. the usual suspects are refined carbs and old oils which are inflammatory and make the body hold onto body fat as a means of trapping toxins.

oils tend not to age well esp. at room temperature. they go subtly rancid at first which is bad enough. that is all it takes. dr. joel fuhrman has written much about the effects of old oils.

Huh. Guess you do learn something new every day. Does that mean food oils should be refrigerated?

that would extend their lifespan a bit as long as they are with original seal not having been broken. once opened, they should be used sooner rather than not, don't know the exact time but i have heard about a month in the fridge. rancidity isn't the only problem with oils but also contaminants from agricultural chemicals such as insecticides and herbicides.
