I am interested to hear from people who like myself have AS and OCD, and how they can tell the difference between their routines that are life affirming and helpful and their OCD which is very distressing and very unhelpful?
For example my routines such as list making, time management, exercise in the morning, nightime habits are very comforting and induce a sense of well being in me.
However, my intrusive thoughts, (which can extend to 'OCD type' role-playing conversations in my head) checking obsessively, Scrupulosity (The moral policeman in my head) and the like have little but misery to offer me.
I am beginning to see that there is great wisdom in me questioning what routines bring me happiness and what routines diminish my happiness. However, it often takes a lot of distress and depression, for me to confront my 'unhealthy routines, and then great effort to learn how let go of them.
