I like this girl. We hang out every week. We won't be able to hang out this week or next week. The problem is that I'm not patient. How do I have patience?

I only know what helps me...

I reflect on the trouble impatience has caused me in the past.
I notice how sh***y being impatient feels, and how much better I feel when I'm patient.
I observe how much I appreciate the patient people I know and how much I'd like to be like them.

I meditate, watching the breath. I practice observing the breath during the day when I have to wait. Like at a traffic light, or in the bank line. This is practicing with just a tiny bit of impatience.

Then, when I'm feeling really impatient, it's easier to recall the breathing practice and to reflect on the negatives of impatience. The breathing introduces a gap in which my "inner adult" can come forward and help me act wisely.

It took a while, but it has really helped.

By having other passions in life. If one passion rises above all others such that nothing else matters, or occupies your thoughts, it deserves some inspections.
Not saying its intrinsically bad - If you're married, engaged, there's solid ground there.

Your problem is not with patience but your perception of time.

You perceive two weeks as a long time. But consider something. Was two weeks ago a long time ago?

Is it relevant? Because you are here now two weeks later aren't you?

My point is, time is very reliable. A particular time always comes, lasts for a quanta, and is then in the past.

It's quite reliable in this way so there isn't much of a point of dwelling on it.
