Yesterday I had a can of soda anonymously delivered to me in class (Valentine's Day fundraiser - a can of "Crush" for your "crush" - ho, ho, ho). It has a card attached saying "From: The 3 girl [sic] across the room." and then "Personal Message: We wanted to send you some friendly love!" First of all, I had no idea what the personal message. Second of all, there are so many girls across the room that I don't know who to ask for a meaning! (I suspect it could be the one directly across from me, to be quite literal, but I'm to unsure to want to ask - I had a bit of an interest in her a few months ago).

Now, to add to my confusion, the night previously I had finally decided I was going to talk to a girl who I liked and who has taken the effort to talk to me at various times, most recently a few weeks ago. I had walked through the most likely responses and figured what I would say depending on where the conversation ended up. Well, I had that can/note delivered right at the beginning of the day, and that screwed up my plans big time.

I had a bit of a sensory overload last night. Who do I talk to? What do I say to each? Am I obligated to choose a certain one? Or neither? I'm confused!

You're reading too much into it. Maybe one of them likes you as more than a friend. But the only thing you can really count on is that they wanted to make you feel good.

"Who do I talk to?"

The ones that you are actually interested in.

"What do I say to each?"

Anything. Just don't say nothing.

"Am I obligated to choose a certain one?"

No, if you choose one that doesn't like you, the one that does like you will get jealous and like you even more! And if you choose the right one, then you will get extra brownie points for "figuring who sent the Crush to you".

I hate to say this, I really do, but I remember school and the horrors that came with it. Be careful; they may be giving you this just to confuse you because it amuses them. They may be using you to fill their primitive desires to be wanted. Not all, but most (obligatory disclaimer) teenage girls are pure evil, particularly the pretty ones.

Even if that was true, he could use it to his own advantage.

The key word there is "friendly". My gut feeling is someone was trying to be nice and make you smile on Valentine's day.

To refute the suggestion that it was something mean-spirited (or a prank), it probably would have been played up like a "secret admirer" "I've always had a huuuuuuuuuge crush on you" type of message.

Don't worry about it, DejaQ. Someone was being sweet to you but didn't want you to get the wrong idea of who it was and send the wrong signal. It was something nice. Enjoy the fact that someone was thinking of you and don't read any more into who it was or why they did it.
