What to do in a situation where you find yourself competing against a guy, including a best friend, or more to win a girls heart? I used this question ICOE (In Case Of Emergency), cause I really don't want to end up in a situation like this. It hasn't happened yet, but still :pale:

Dude to be honest it's not. I've been there and the girl usual turns out to be the wrong one. Then you end up losing the girl and the friends. It's kind of a lose the girl keep the friends, or lose the friends keep the girl, or lose both situation. Either way you look at it there's not a definite win ending.

Meh. Popeye and Bluto have been doing this for like 100 years and their relationship seems pretty stable.

I agree with Prksrbrt
Coming from a female, that has had more 'male' friends then female (avoid them like the plague-but that is something different)
I have seen this happen too many times and it is sick... and a couple times I have had to have rather embarrassing talks with male friends
because I finally clued into why they were making me feel like a tug-a-war rope.. (1st time took a while, 2nd time clued in much faster)
Warning - some really may disagree with the following

1. I will not 'date' someone I have known so long they feel like a 'brother' yuck
and 2. I will not have two males doing that.. and if I find out it pisses me right off
3. I think it is gross and friendships should be worth a hell of a lot more then a
day, week, month, year.. or maybe if your really luck 10/20 years worth of frequent p****..

Quote:
They say blood is thicker then water..
friendships can last a lifetime..
and p**** comes and goes..

Plus, if you kill the friendship over a female.. who are you going to go and
b***h about women with when the relationship ends?
Who will you go have a few pints with and watch strippers with?

Hah! Brilliant. Bizarre love triangle.

I'd say it depends on who you have to fight, how attractive the girl is, whether you'd win or not, and astrological conditions. OP, do you mean fisticuffs or a kind of non violent 'competition'?

That's the stupidest reason guys aren't friends anymore. Fighting over some (normally cheating) broads honor. If you are dumb enough to leave your best friend over some chick then you don't deserve friends. Move on bro. There are almost 4 Billion women in the World. Find another one and just let it be.

"Bros before hoes" really should drop some some of it's misogynistic baggage and become "sincere friendship of any kind is more valuable and rare than a small possibility of successfully building rapport with someone new"; I very much agree with this revision, at least.

If its my friends, then it's non-violent cause were both looking for "girls" and have gotten none so far. Were pretty much use to it. He told me one time that its OK if we like the same girl, but luckily, that barely happens. If it other guys I don't know, then it could turn into a fistfight. I rarely get into fights so its rare that I would engage in one.

How long and boring, 'Bros before hoes' is much cooler.

Anyways, 'Bros before hoes' is usually said in situations where the girl is really manipulative and trying to capitalize on both guys , or the girl is really harming the friend, so calling her hoe is ok.

In other situation, true male friend shouldn't stand in the way between his male friend and the girl whom his friend really loves.

"Fighting for a female."

How archaic. Humans are chimps with hats and automatic weapons.

Nope. The second another guy gets involved regardless of whether he's jesus or paralyzed from the neck down I get out and let the other guy deal with all the BS.

If it comes to physical pummeling and the girl "likes whoever wins", then she is clearly missing a few braincells and are not relationship material.

Either she likes me for me or she can go and f**k herself, if she want to play games, there are lots of idiots out there she can play her stupid mindgames with.

Not worth it; there are girls everywhere. That would be the day. This ain't the animal kingdom. It would be much better to find a girl with no strings attached. Plus, would you really want a girl that's turned on by conflicts?

Nope, which is why I want to stay cautious whenever I have a crush.

Nope. It's never worth it to fight over a guy either. Even if you won, the guy/girl in question still won't appreciate you. Sorry, but it's true. The people who have those fighting over them probably wanted it to happen just for their own amusement. :/
