This is an intersting sight that I have read. It explains that generally speaking beauty is not in the eye of the beholder. Beauty is a way of measuriing a potentual mates health.

Interesting. I wasn't particularly keen on the article itself, but I did very much enjoy reading the Newsweek article it linked to. I still think, though, that there are exceptions and that some of it's based on personal style. A lot of guys think that Jessica Alba is really hot but I don't think so at all....

I don't really like the sound of the author, he seems obnoxious. But the article does raise some interesting points. But although some beauty may be quantifiable and constant, I think there's many other factors that come into assessing beauty, which take into account personal aesthetics. Waist-to-hip ratio is hardly the full measure of a woman's beauty now, is it?

Beauty is only a superficial sign of health, Beauty's main function is simply FOR attraction, the more attractive you are the more likely the opposite sex will mate with you. It's that simple.

Beauty really doesn't have a lot to do with health, there are lots of beautiful people with lots of "unseen" genetic and other serious health problems. Fact is, although from an evolutionary standpoint it may indicate health, it does so very badly compared to scientific knowledge we have now. It's very superficial health information.

I don't buy it either. I think author who created this did so to justify being shallow. It's sad that so many good women are going to be overlooked because they don't have the correct waist-to-hip ratio.
