I was in a relationship with a man for fifteen years, and now I find I'm terrified of committing myself to anything long term. I love the thought of being in love though. Does anyone else feel this way?

As nobody is forcing you to have any kind of commitment, long-term or otherwise, I don't see the problem. If any relationship is going to be long-term or not is relative to both parties' compatibility - and it's found out by trying. So just leave your injudicious fears behind and jump into it! 8)

I've never had a girlfriends/been in love. But I want a girlfriend, and I want to be in love, but the prospect of that scares me as much as the idea of sky diving (I am terrified of heights).

I am divorced from a 20 year relationship (that was 8 years ago) and just got out of a 7 year relationship. I find it terrifying, exhilarating, and exciting to start over!

My therapist pointed out to me that I let the men choose me (as if I didn't have a choice) and now I am enjoying although frightened of starting over. This "freedom of choice" is exhilarating!

I agree, there is a certain amount of insecurity and uncertainty when it comes to a relationship and there's always a chance of being hurt but that is what makes it interesting, I guess love is taking the chance to invest in someone or taking a risk so that fear will always be there. However I think you need to remain positive about relationships and love because I see some people that die inside or give up on the chance of ever finding true love.
