Hi all,

I'm undiagnosed but I strongly suspect I'm AS. I've never been in a proper relationship but I would like to be, with the right person. I have obsessive interests and am oversensitive to quite a lot of things, as a child I was really bad at socialising but now I've adapted so I can fake normal interaction quite well, but most of my close friends have similar obsessive interests which we discuss together and analyse.

I've sort of got together with 3 guys but it didn't last long at all, for a variety of reasons. One thing I notice is that I'm strongly attracted to slightly extroverted, socially adept and emotionally intelligent guys, I guess because they seem to be able to do things I can't figure out how to. Most of my close friends are much more like me, and they understand me better when I open up totally to them than the aforementioned kind of guy. But I'm not very attracted to them because I kind of feel anything they could do I could also do (better, perhaps). I suppose, ideally, I would like a guy who balances me out but is also understanding and respectful of my AS traits, including my difficulties with being touched in certain ways which make the physical side of things quite complicated.

Another thing; some of my close male friends who are (I suspect) undiagnosed AS seem to attract girls who are looking for the nerdy intellectual type of guy so they can be wowed by his intelligence. I have not had the same luck with guys looking for a girl like that. Is this a pattern or have I just been unlucky?

Anyone else feel like this?
