It sounds sort of silly to say ivy just realized it, but... I've been married and divorced, I've had a handful of bedmates, and I'm currently in a 3 year relationship. When I think about it, though, I've never been intimate with anyone I wasn't already good friends with, and I've never been asked out on a date.

I'm not even sure why that occurred to me, or how I feel about it. I knew I had only been in two relationships, but it sort of surprises me that I'd never realized I've never gone through that whole end of courtship.

Is this common?

I'm 37 and I've never been on a date. I don't have a problem with it either.

Its hard enough for normal people to get dates and that kinda stuff.

I honestly think i have a better chance at winning the lottery than getting a date.

Welcome to the new club, Old people without dates.

I did one coffee date and that was so awkward I'm in rush to repeat it. It didn't go badly, just I confirmed my suspicions that I can't provide that initial spark like most men can. Therefore I'm focusing on befriending women in general and seeing where that leads.

It might be more accurate to say my love life is more extensive - I could probably convince a jury that you are quite a lot luckier in love than I am.

Married to a man who forced himself upon her many times and thought nothing of it for several YEARS that she slept 20 hours a day, and you think I wouldn't gladly take a life of virginity? Please...

Edit: sorry, that was probably ruder than was required. Still, I maintain that there are valid arguments that being celibate with no relationship experience at the age of 80 would be preferable to the love life I had experienced up until about age 26.
