Those some of the questions I was asked in the date today:

-What do you work?
-Where is your workplace?
-Are you dating someone?
-What's your religion?
-You're 30, why you are not married or engaged yet?
-Are you thinking of marriage?
-Ever been in a serious relationship before?
-Ever been in love before?
-What are you seeking in a girl?
-How would you treat your girl?

To be honest, is that not exactly what dating is?

A bit yes, it is a sussing the other person out as a prospective partner type thing.

I ask a lot of questions myself when I meet someone but not in a check-list way, just because
I like to form a picture of the person's life and past relationship history, out of curiosity as much as anything else.

[Google Translation:] How much money do you make and, if it's significant, will you marry me immediately?

That's sure how it feels from those questions, anyway... :?

What questions did you ask her and did you like her?

My conversations with women and people in general usually end after question 1.

The question I hate the most is "So what do you do for fun?"

A lot of people are very fast on a first date. They don't want to lose time. If you feel overwhelmed they just don't care.

If dates are like job interviews will they eventually have background checks?

Yes, dating is a little like a job interview but it shouldn't feel like one. That's what dating is about...getting to really know one another but just to ask them like that, one right after the other, I probably would have been less than polite and ended the date. I am so sorry you had to go through that.... :(
