I've always had the problem of liking someone then liking them WAY too much, thinking about them 24/7 and holding them on a pedal stool like they are some kind of God. This usually leads to me getting an inferiority complex and acting like an idiot, immediately putting them off. Maybe it's mostly because I suffer low self esteem, but do any other aspies get this too?

I was like that, in College. Unfortunatley, the guy that I've had the hots for had turned out to be a real jerk.

I've known one or two NTs that do that.

Yeah, I find that happens to me a lot, too.

It's got beyond annoying at this point...

I've got the opposite problem.
I need to care and think about people more.
It seems that with every gf it's the same.
They think about me 24/7 they say and constantly wanna be with me.
While i on the other hand need space and time alone, away from people and concerned with my own interests.

Don't make the mistake of obsessing over a cartoon character like I did.

I used to have a lot of trouble with that. Anymore though I've made the realization that we all eat, sleep, drink, use the can, and have rather similar struggles, sadness, and satisfaction/disastisfaction in life based on whatever is going on in the moment. In that perspective sure, people can have lots of value to me if our relationship is as such or if they're character is that inspiring to me but other than that I have little or no trouble with crushes - I'm quite happily self-cured there. My only dilemma is being able to find enough interest in one particular person or another, people like me seeing them in a very non-objectified manner and respect that a lot but it still leaves me in a funny place in terms of knowing what I'd even want to go for (that and I sometimes wonder if people are kind of intimidated or off-put by the fact that I can't bring myself to show them that much singularly devoted attention or interest).

Yep, but not as a crush, just someone gets stuck in my head and then they always seem to be in my dreams whether it is just in the background and I can't make them budge outta my mind!

I do it as well. I think it may have something to do with being lonely, and perseveration coming together. I obsesive about lots of things. Yet if I like someone I end up that way over them. I also fall in love way to quick.

Yes, but they tend to be rare and far between. I had a crush on a girl as a high school freshman that last for four to five years, and persists to this day a bit. My second large crush was a girl I saw at most five times maybe two years ago... that persists to this day. I'm not sure what it is, but my crushes are few, far between, and intense.

I do definitely have that problem, and I do consider it a problem, which I try to avoid. My main problem with people is I'm either utterly disinterested or way too focused on them -- it the type of focus that's totally Aspie in origin, and applies to both things and other people alike. I can't "kind of like" someone. I kinda wish my social pendulum had less of a range, because that would keeping me from emotionally crashing so much.

Indeed. I'm quite obsessive and paranoid, thinking that one wrong move could mean me losing my chances forever.
