At the end of last year, I met someone at an Autism group. Because he was in a different group for a bit, I only bumped into him when we had our end of month quiz / visit to the pub.

Over the last few weeks, we've become quite close and talk quite a lot. He has suggested that we meet up and watch a film together.

There's a Facebook group for the Autism group and I posted on there and asked for some advice on an issue I'm having. He replied, gave me some advice and send me a message on Facebook. He said a few things which makes me wonder if he wants something more.

There are a few issues here:
- I vaguely remember the branch manager / officer of the group stating that relationships between members (there is an exception - but I think they were together before the group) aren't allowed
- I am probably reading too much into this, as has happened before and he's doing it to be friendly

Well, you're not in a relationship so far, so no problems there! And I think it sounds nice. If you like him, even as a friend, why not see what happens?

I'm not sure if different companies have different rules, but I thought that the only rule about relationships that most companies can have in most places is that one person can't be the manager of another person who they're also in a relationship with. I could be wrong, but I think that's the main HR taboo out there, and the rules really aren't as tight as you think.

There are enough things out there in the world that sabotage love, we have a shortage of things that give it a fighting chance. Why not just go carefully but confidently forward and see where the road goes?

I don't see how a social group can legitimately keep people apart. I would think their mission would be the opposite. if things develop and you think it's worth it. ditch the dictators.

Sounds like the excitement most people want, the forbidden thing, what makes it exciting, sneaking around. I'm surprised to read how many women answer yes to this question on okcupid. Would you have sex in a public place even if the risk of getting caught is high.
I could be linking things that are totally unrelated as usual.

If it was up to me, and your love was strong enough (and there were other social opportunities), I'd be telling the officer of the group to go to hell.

I can't see why any social group would make that rule. Unless it's to deter people from only using the group as an opportunity to try and score dates or hookups. And it's probably an anxious occasion as it is just being a social one let alone one filled with dating pressures.

What type of social group is this that doesn't allow people to be together? You would think they'd be happy that they were able to create a romantic link between two people who may have difficulty finding romance. I say you go for it, and if you two really find that you click, then ditch the group (or just do your best to hide your status).
