Number of singles in the world growing

In a lot of places now the population of single people in the world is almost close to 50%. You can find a lot of articles about it, like this one:

Any thoughts?

Well, given how I am, it makes me feel a bit better about myself in not being alone on that front, personally.

I don't know about the singles population, but I have noticed a lot of breakup's and divorces around me in the last few years. Maybe people are getting tired of other people's crap?

Economy.

I've read similar articles. They consider it a crisis in Japan. My personal experience is that I got everything I need from non sexual relationships. These relationships are much more fulfilling than any dating relationship I've ever had. I feel like why should I date? What is the added benefit to my life? I don't care about sex. Sifting through all the potential matches to find a romantic partner takes a lot of effort and is full of upsetting emotions. In the end, all I will end up with is something I already have: a close friend. It seems to me that non-sexual, non-romantic relationships are capable of meeting people's social needs without the downside of the powerful, painful emotions that are a part of pursuing sex and romance.

This viewpoint is ironic because I used to be obsessed with sex and dating when I was younger and totally incapable of having a good relationship but now that I am older and in a position of possibly finding a mate, I don't see why I should.

Yeah it also make me feel a bit better that I am not too weird, although at the same time its a bit discouraging.

Also agree the economy is one of the factors probably. People are expected to commit themselves more to work to increase productivity, which leaves less time for socializing. Also with poorer economy its harder to have a family.
