I'm on a very tight budget atm, but I would like to give my girlfriend a suprise gift. Does anyone have a suggestion for something not too expensive?

Hey Kurgan.

Can you give us more info, like her interests and how long you've been dating? If you're really looking for something inexpensive yet sentimental, then you could always go to an arts and crafts store and make something for her (eg: bracelet with a homemade card).

How about you write her a poem or something like that?

One of my all time favourite gifts is a hand written homemade Christmas card from a friend - far more meaningful than any mass produced consumer product.

As they say, "The best things in life are those that money can't buy.." - so don't bother spending any. Spend your time & love instead. 8)

Victorinox Swiss army knife (classic runs around $20).

I think you can even get pink. Probably more expensive, though.

Far more practical [and lasting] than most things around, really.

She already has a perfectly good swiss army knife. Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Make something relating to her interests (or the two of you as a couple). Even if it turns out a little rough, it shows more creativity and thought than just buying something. Something with photos of the two of you could be romantic and also fairly cheap.

Soo true. If you decide to make/give her a card, you could write about a quality that you appreciate about her or a favorite memory that you've shared together or anything that you look forward to in the future. ugh I'm so sappy lol.
