Seeking Aspie opinions on this. Ladies, please chime in too -- do you prefer re-kindling romance with past boyfriends, or seeking new ones? Of course, it varies per situation, but who has a general preferrence, or greater comfortability, with pursuing restarting a previous relationship than seeking out a brand new one?

For myself, I have great comfortability re-treading familiar paths rather than blazing new ones, even though new ones may be better in some cases.

For me the only "good" thing about old ones would be the familiarity. Change not being something I'm a huge fan of, that would make it more appealing. I try to avoid it though.

As someone who was in an on-again/off-again relationship for 3 years, I know how easy it is to get back with an old flame. It is also a bad idea most of the time. There was a reason you broke up, and it is very unlikely that reason has gone away.

not sure...

empirically, i have found it not to work...

but then, my eyes have only recently been opened to the true nature of my behavior towards my significant other (i am thinking of my negative habits)

so maybe it would be worth a shot.

but meh.

Hello,

I believe we should have our old girlfriends make out with our new girlfriends while we watch!

Just kidding!

It happened to me and an ex-girlfriend DID make out with a new girl I was dating. She ended up

becoming a full blooded lizard  !

That was rough, turning a girl into a player for the other team.

I am sorry what was the question again?

Gah, I can't even imagine dating toxic Bob again since none of our issues were ever resolved. It would be that whole fight, break up, make up drama. Forget that. Now if it was my husband, then yes, I'd go back. But then, I actually like him. LOL That's not something I ever said about Bob.

I would give just about anything to have what I once did back. But it's impossible now - and it seems so pointless to try and recreate it with anyone else.

I think usually going back to past relationships is a damaging thing to do to yourself. Though obviously it must work occationally for some people.

Are you trying to be Werbert 2.0 or something?

In this case I'd say be careful.... your memories are normally better than the reality actually was. Think carefully about why it ended the first time to begin with. Although sometimes it can take awhile before you wake up and figure it out.

I was divorced...I went back...and if I ever, EVER consider anything like that ever again I will smack myself over the head with the nearest 2x4 I can find until I come to my senses.

Ha, Ha,

SO FUNNY I FORGOT TO LAUGH! (In the immortal words of PeeWee).

Did a Google search and came up with this:

http://www.wrongplanet.net/modules.php? ... 320b1fb7a1

Do not know him, nor his post.

I spent a lot of years working in bars and my coping mechanism is humour or shock, mostly both of them.

The story is true, an ex became a lesbian right after she broke up with me, did not know, introduced her to a girl I was seeing (casually) and they made out in a bar right in front of me. I wanted to knock their blocks off!!

Using humour to actually talk about a painfull memory.

The first is more amusing and easier to read than this one isn't it?

You can confront it or try to use humor to make it seem like it doesn't bother you, which apparently it does. My comment was not on your response to this thread alone, but take it as you will.

Hello,

Wow, we really are easy to offend. I was not trying anything just trying to explain. It is so easy to be taken out of context online, actually in life in general, people are always assuming that I am being more aggressive than I am intending.

Just trying to explain not flame. That ought to be my new saying.

Offend isn't the right word. Just as "only kidding" gets old when it seems to be overused.

Gosh, I would have assumed that they were making an offer.
