I noticed a sharp change in myself, after having aged from 21 to 33. When I was 21, I felt at odds with women my age, and found them unpleasant. Now at 33, I'm kicking myself for not having realized just how fun they were.

When I was in my early 20's, I didn't enjoy the company of women my age for the most part. I found them to be vapid, shallow, and anti-intellectual, and just couldn't get along with them. My aspie quirks and intelligence clashed majorly with their own interests. Many a time, these women hurled abuse at me like there's no tomorrow. Women in their 30's seemed more mature, intelligent, and friendly. I was really looking forward to being in my 30's myself, so I could date those women and enjoy the benefits than an older age brings.

* * * 2016 * * *
Now I'm my early 30's, and it dawned on me: I don't enjoy the company of women in their 30's. They seem boring, emotionally dry, and baby-obsessed. My interest in having fun with life, or as I call it, "drinking beer and riding trains", doesn't faze them at all. By contrast, women in their 20's seem bubbly, fun, and downright adorable. I'd sell my soul to be able to easily date women that age (as opposed to being "the older man"). Women age 40+ are a little bit better: they seem more mellow, and don't snub their noses at beer and trains.

Thoughts? Comments? Anyone else felt/feels the same way? That, and how do you think I'll react to women my age when I'm 45?

It's because women in their 30's have more to worry about than "beers and trains" - like their biological clocks.

Hey, I did say "baby-obsessed", crass as it may sound.

It's just sad that I didn't enjoy the fun, bubbly aspect of 20-something women when I was the perfect age for it. Welcome to Asperger Syndrome, I guess.

You're only 33 - that's hardly an old geezer. And men get the added benefit of dating much younger women and it's accepted. Women are considered "cougars" which is degrading.

You just don't fit in your age group, it's really not that uncommon, especially for those who don't follow age stereotypes for when they're allowed to have fun, when they should settle down etc

At your age it's neither rare or inappropriate in any way to date someone 10 year younger or 10 years older for that matter. Enjoy! (You're too young to be seen as a "daddy figure" by a 25 year old)

I kinda feel like that too. Not for dating, but in general. I want to go out places and have fun, but people my age don't do anything anymore. They're stuck in their routines and don't want to step outside of the box.

I miss being in my 20s and having single friends who wanted to go out.

When I was in my 20's I didnt like the things that people my age did, ie nothing but getting drunk , dancing to bad music , being loud and obnoxious.
I still feel the same way, I'd rather just drink a beer at home or have friendly conversations than
get a hangover, listen to bad music and feel bored.

Thinking all girls in their 30s are boring and baby-obsessed probably isn't the best attitude to start with.

There are fun, smart girls in their 20s and vapid ones. There are (crass as you've put it) baby-obsessed boring girls in their 30s looking to get married, vapid ones and smart, fun ones too.

There are enough people on the planet that if you try, you can likely find a girl who is what you're looking for (provided you're somewhat realistic, i.e. your expectations of girls are in line with your expectations of yourself).

That's a good comment from notagain. Not all women over 30 are boring.

Apparently that's wrong, evil and immoral.

Yeah I almost wrote "Katy actually has a good point" even though it started off bluntly.

Not all women over 30 are boring and baby obsessed.

That's the thing, she starts off with balanced ideas, gains trust, then turns on you like one of those little dinosaurs in jurassic Park.

Also with my recent public paranoia about people being Katy who weren't Katy I thought I'd better not go on a rant about sock puppets again.

Also maybe a late 20s would be best of both??
