I love my family and I love them what I’m talking about is I’ve never known true love of a female partner. I do like my alone time like many people here I assume do. I don’t want to one day be all alone I’m a nerves shy person and being alone would kill me inside. It’s a hard enough battle to get a friend. When I look to the future I see myself being by myself and very lonely.

How can some people find it so easy and for me it’s impossible? I’m the most loyal person in the world from things as small has a brand of cola to more important things like people close to me. I have so much love inside me but no one to share it with.

You’d think my caring side would stand out a mile as I’m very gentle and seem too bound really well with animals. I can walk down the street and have animal come up to me and I’ll get down on mu knee and pet them. Animals seem to be able sense gentle and kind loving nature so are very carm around me. If it’s so obvious to them why can’t people see it?
I’m so scared I’m going to one day be all alone. I don’t know how I’ll cope.

Your post sounds like I could have written it for the most part. I'm content being alone much, if not most, of the time, but I'm happiest when I'm in a reciprocal relationship with a female partner. I also share your affinity for animals, dogs and cats which typically avoid strangers like the plague will usually run up and jump on my lap to the amazement of their owners. But I also appear to share your basic shyness and fear of being alone, and it's difficult meeting people other than business associates and casual acquaintances (and that's hard enough!) It's frustrating to KNOW that you're capable of great love and will treat your partner like a goddess, but you have to remember that most people aren't telepathic and need to get inside your shell before this is apparent to them. It takes a conscious effort to demonstrate this side of you.

All I can say is that at times, the desire for a relationship and the mental energy to take the plunge seem to peak at the same time, and I've put forth the effort to find a partner. Sometimes it's worked, sometimes it hasn't, but I have had several fulfilling relationships as a result. A couple of times relationships have seemed to find me, but I still had to put an effort into overcoming some of my natural aversions to getting close to people. You have to be patient, which I know is easy to say, relationships can be high-wire acts at the best of times!

It is all an illusion. And even if it is not, it never lasts or some obstacle will be thrown in your way to ensure you never experience it.

Well, if it helps, I cope very well with being all alone for the most part. It's really not so bad not to have to pander to somebody else's whims.

The only thing I really think I'm missing out on is the sex... and given my apparently total abhorrence of physical contact of that nature, I doubt I'd enjoy that very much...

I'm not sure what to say. I am sorry you are experiencing such emotions over this. It's a tough thing to wrestle with as most of us would all like to experience love and long-term companionship. I know I do.

I was in a long-term relationship for a long time and thought I was in love, but then I realized I didn't really know him at all, and only loved who I THOUGHT he was. In reality, he was very bad for me and made me pretty miserable.. That was a pretty harsh realization.

And I was actually more obsessed about making it work at all costs and trying to keep him happy rather than really, truly being in love..

So guess I've never really been in love either. I hope I find someone someday too, and hopefully someone much more like me, if there is such a person and a next time...

True love doesn't exist!! ! Romantic love, purely by definition, is conditional. The only reason why people love their romantic partners is because he/she has something the person likes. For instance, a girl loves her boyfriend because he's charming and has cute dimples on his face. Well, what would happen if one day, the dimples turned into pimples, and the charm disappeared? She's break up with him! Same would happen if a guy had a girlfriend, and her boobs suddenly went from DD to A. Even a relationship that started because both parties were desperate, and couldn't find anyone else. How? They love each other because of the companionship they provide each other. When the companionship goes, so does love.

Don't be upset when you can't find true love, because it doesn't exist. It's like looking for a pink elephant. You can find something close (a gray elephant, to be exact), but you won't find what doesn't exist. Just focus on finding someone who'll love you for whatever qualities that you have.

I've found true love once before, but lost it. It sucks, because when I'm down, I just think of what I could've done to prevent us from ending. It feels like it's your fault.

I don't know if it was because she was my first real girlfriend or what, but I've never felt that way about any girl before or after her.

At least it felt good while it lasted.

Aspie1:

I think there is true love, as love isn't always and doesn't always have to BE conditional.

If you find someone you truly get to know as a person, and grow to love and care about them for who they are (rather than for dimples and boobs!!), then that is more of a true love for someone. And not all companionships are based on settling when you want something else (or what you think of as better), either.

True love is rare indeed. Very few of us ever find it. Those of us who have been lucky enough to expirence it, know what it is and feels like. So, I would have to agree that 95 mabey 98-99 percenta of all love is conditional. J.C.

I defined love to be unconditional. Thus, it is for me.
It's that simple. No one REALLY knows what the damned
word means anyhow, so you might as well make what you
want of it.

similar case here, except that i've never had a girlfriend before or since.
As for others not telling that you're a good person... my ex-gf admitted one day that if she were with a 'dark hero' type male (goes into the African jungle, finds a diamond mine, kills 200 mercenaries with his bare hands to defend it, swims home across the ocean with his riches on his back, that sort of thing), no matter how badly he treated her she would go back. I lost a lot of respect for her then and there.
