Should I talk(online) to my crush or just forget about it?

I've had a crush on a girl that started 7 years ago in high school. We never really knew each other but we did have some classes together and a mutual friend. For pretty much the 4 years in HS I wanted to talk to her so badly but just didn't know how, and I still don't. It's not really the fear of talking to her, but fear from not knowing what to say without seeming like a creep. I have actually forgotten about her for the past few years but just yesterday she posted a pic on social media for the first time in almost 3 years, and it just made me fall in love again. At this point I just want to talk to her at least and maybe become friends. I am confident that we could become good friends as we have a lot of similar interests, but I'm just unsure of how to start talking to her or if I should even try.

Why not try to contact her? You will have nothing to lose really. But I have to warn you...if she does not want to make contact with you and/or ignores you, just leave it be.
Right not you have a fantasy in your head of how she and you will i teract, that all it is. Not based on any a reality. Therefore understand that as of right now you dont know anything about her, dont assume you know her, etc.
Also be honest with intent, dont get clingy or creepy, but dont hide the fact that you may want a romantic interlude with her

Yes, you definitely should talk to her. There is nothing to be afraid of and even if things don't work out, you will have got some practice with reaching out.
If your worried about what to say just give yourself a bit of time to figure out what to say.
Sometimes something simple like..

Hey 'her name', It's 'your name' from 'so and so high'. How you been?

Starting with something simple and brief won't make her feel overwhelmed. After you msg her the best advice I would say is to leave the ball in her court and give her time to reply. It could a few days, but would probably be less and especially if she is interested.

I'd try to contact her online instead of in real-life meeting given your problems to make contact in real life. Texting (messages on Facebook) is a lot easier and doesn't require a presentation or other social things. I'd assume she actually knows him, otherwise it would be pretty futile anyway.

You're not in love. You may be fixated, or smitten, etc., but love? Nope. That said, if you're interested, pursue her. Worst thing that happens is she says no and never talks to you again. Even worse than that is you carrying a torch for her and never knowing if it could be kindled into something bigger.

Just write her something about you two being in high school together. Maybe about something significant that happened in high school then that you both knew about.

Don't say that you had a crush on her until you've established a decent rapport with her.

Women are generally leery of people pm'ing them out of the blue, unless they know (knew) them pretty well. If you are going to try it though, just keep it simple and casual.

Say something like "Hey, didn't we go to school together?" or something along those lines. A lot of times, people will just add the other person as a friend first (if they block you right off the bat, it's a no-go :P).

Do send her a message through social media, but be very careful what you write because before you contact her, think about how she may react. Do not be disappointed if she tells you that she is in a relationship with someone else.

This is good advice. It doesn’t hurt to reach out.
