My therapist told me about Hinge and she said the client who told her about it liked it more than Tinder, Bumble, etc. I thought I would give it a try despite my negative experiences with dating apps because my mind sometimes makes me feel like maybe this time will be different. But if things play out like the previous apps, I will truly swear off dating apps.

So far I have not gotten any notifications though I haven't paid for an advanced membership yet.

Your therapist has no idea how sausage fest the dating apps are, Hinge or otherwise.

This. I'll bet your therapist has never even used a dating app. Certainly not as a guy who has significant deficits in his "sexual market value". If you're going to use it, go in with low expectations and certainly don't pay for any membership unless you accept the possibility that it still may not yield you any results.

I hope you have a positive experience and learn some new things about yourself.

Don't bait them for goodness sake lol.

My friends despair at how I throw myself into things and fail, but I like to feel that I have tried at least.

I say give it a go. But, don't pin all of your hopes on it as THE solution.

Here's a little quote I like....

Quote:
Marilla Cuthbert:
You set your heart too much on frivolous things and then crash down into despair when you don't get them.

Anne Shirley:
I know. I can't help flying up on the wings of anticipation. It's as glorious as soaring through a sunset... almost pays for the thud.

I will always be an Anne

Don’t get unhinged over Hinge.

It’s a dating app, after all.

A “sausage fest.”

Still, I wish you every success.
