I'm starting University in three weeks and I wanted to ask a simple question to those who are or who have been through University.

Do you think that girls are way more prettier and more intelligent in Uni than they were in school and college put together?
I've never had time for a girlfriend so I'm hoping that I will meet someone in this part of my life, because I feel like I'll have more of a chance of meeting someone who has the personality I like and the looks that I like and all I'd want from them is that they understand my faults and who I am as a person and understand that I have AS and their love too.

In my college experience, I managed to have mostly female friendships, but never got into a relationship. However, I did ask a few ladies out. In one case, I was told that this girl never had time for guys; another case ended not in a date, but got "stood up" hours beforehand. 8O :x

Yesterday, I took a ride through the campus of Skidmore College, and didn't realize until I saw a guy riding his bike to class how much I miss the life of being a college student. I have since changed the preference on my Yahoo! Personals search to include 18-25 year olds, which would confirm that I have something I like to call a "Woody Allen Complex."

Just as long as you don't date your own adopted daughter.

I hope we're not making generalizations here.

Unfortunately I'd have to sadly agree this time.

I c/p'ed this from another thread I contributed to. It's somewhat relevant here as well.

The way it seems to work is networking. One could make a complex string chart of the social interworkings of people. To get a girlfriend in this situation, you must have lots of "strings." For NTs, it's an efficient system. When a girl becomes singles, she's only single for a few days before she gets picked up by the next guy in the system.

It sucks if you're not part of this system, but that's life.

Hey if I'm dumb then why am I in Uni then it was just a simple question that most lads talk about where I live, jesus christ, I don't like being called dumb or ret*d because that sees me in a bad light and I've had it through school life.

I just get nervous and keep thinking will there be a lot of pretty girls and types that I like because I'm a bit picky and I get worked up about it.

yes - let's keep the personal remarks out of it.

i think the point being made was that women at college aren't necessarily better looking than in the general population, calculon.

Yes, hale_bopp's comment was a bit out of order.

What's that got to to with anything I quoted?

Ok, i'll answer your question and try not to sarcastically patronise you.

Yes, people are alot better looking instantly when they finish high school. They grow long legs and long blonde hair. They also get the whole teeth whitening deal chucked in.

And yes, they're so much smarter. People don't go to university just to play up and prolong getting a job.

.. common knowledge, people.

When I first went to college, they're were lots of hot chicks there, but as time went on, there seems to be less and less. The attractive ones often don't make it to college... There wasn't any that I recognized from school, except for one, who when I met her last year after not knowing her for years after school, I found out is a lesbian. She looked about the same though.

They generally are though. As far as my area and school goes, my school always had the ugliest mix of birds i have ever had the misfortune to set eyes on and they are on the whole, now that they have grown up, still ugly but in college where to be fair there is more woman from different walks of life there is a lot of hot looking chicks. Though i have seen lovely looking girls in other schools and they are beginning to sprout up in my area so i wouldnt want to generalise too much.

Probably not any different to the rest of the population as a whole.

The usual caveats about choices were there of course. This held true in 1991 when I enrolled for Computer Science and again, in 1997, when I enrolled for Historical & Theoretical Studies.

My perspective could be quite jaundiced though, because I worked in the Student Union part time, to help finance my way through college and of course, most student unions are dominated by the sporty types and their female admirers.

Unfortuntely, universities are not really the safe havens from the rigours and oppressions of the outside world that they are often made out to be.

It really does matter where the university/college is. I'm in LA, and if you walk around UCLA, you'll see some of the most beautiful women in the world. They come from affluent families and have a lot of time and money to spend on their appearance, and a lot of times are out of the genetic stock of Hollywood and Beverly Hills, Brentwood, and the like. Same is true up at UCSB (that's UC Santa Barbara). I visited a friend up there from time to time, and the girls were amazing, and seemingly endless.

ON THE OTHER HAND: at my school, St. John's, Santa Fe, a small private college, there were literally only one or two pretty girls a year, and they didn't last long, quickly realizing they were in the wrong place. The Great Books curriculum attracted--as the men on campus used to say--"Dykes and Dogs". A compliment, really...

From talking with other men from various schools, the best law I can formulate is: the pretty girls often gravitate to larger, more prestigious schools with ample opportunities for sun, fun, good shopping and dining, and rich cultural life. They tend to go into lighter majors like media and broadcasting or cultural studies, etc.

Hope my rambling is helpful in some respect....
