Has anyone contracted oral herpes after they kissed a girl goodnight... I think I might have contracted it... my mouth is so sore...

I'm one of the most neurotic persons I know...

Never had anything like that, but i think theres herpes type 1
or something that gives these sores on the mouth some people
have - it transmits by spit - but heres the thing, most people
have the herpes-thing in their body, it just doesn`t brake out,
one can have it dormant for many years without anything
happening, its very common, some it never breaks out on at
all.

Yeah, like 80% of North Americans have one form or another.

How can one make it not brake out? thats the Q
to think about - cant run from it. Some people never
break out even though they carry it all the time, now that
is interesting, why is that? I`m one of those (assuming
I`m carrying it) and i wish i knew what it is that keeps it
dormant. (assuming i carry it since a girlfriend of mine
had it, but i never got it/broke out and thats many years ago)
Feel like underlining that i`m talking about the mouth-herpes-
thingy, not the groin-thingy. Sounds bad to say you might
be carrying herpes, but this is something that is very common
to carry around, were talking 80-90% of pretty much all people,
not sure if its the same thing thats called cold-soars...maybe
thats something else

If you want to avoid all, no way out but the not have any kind of sex.

It's a hard call for people who are obsessive, and not that you are, but we have really been kept in the dark about the STD epidemic.

It's like the Gon. epidemic of the 1800's. They would tell the women they were dying of burst apendix when really their cheater husbands had brought them back gonnorhea which was not curable.

It's a risky world we live in. Be careful and try to enjoy it as much as possible!

Herpes 1 or cold sores generally break out around the mouth and resides in the inner ear when dormant. Herpes 2, or genital herpes, usually breaks out around the genital or upper thigh region and resides at the base of the spine when dormant. Sometimes the strains can switch places as to where they break out. There really isn't much difference between the two. About 90% of adults have herpes of one form or another but it is harmless to a healthy person.

You can also pass oral herpes to the genitals.

Could be something as simple as oral thrush.
