frustrating situation

I meet Ms. A in a class and we become fast friends. We share the weirdest, most subtle idiosyncracies and this is mutually acknowledged. We've also got the same intense interests in neuropsych. As implied by body language and other things (she's constantly finding stupid excuses to touch me and spend lots of time with me, laughs at all of my ret*d humor, etc), there is probably something more going on here. The catch is, she's taken and quite happily so, I think. God dammit.

I'm thinking of just avoiding her after this week and telling her to give me a heads up when she's single. Yes, it's kind of misanthropic, but I don't want to do something stupid and it sort of pains me wasting my time thinking about what could be.

If you really like her and she likes you all you have to do is wait. Time will tell if it was meant to be.

Oh god, yeah, that's painful to hear. But I'm not a fan of avoidance, myself; I suggest you tell her what's going on, and what you're feeling, before you decide to split away from her completely. It may well be worth talking it over with her, and I have a feeling you may have less to lose that way.

The old "Like her, likes me, she's taken" routine. Yeah, I can't say that she's ever liked me back in that situation. My Mom would definitely say "wait" in this situation. Gf's and bf's go... eventually. I personally would say "f**k it" though because she's not going to go for you unless she likes you so much that she'd break up with him for you, and it sounds like that's not going to happen.

If the lack of possibility of obtaining her is causing you romantic stress or other harm, then call off the friendship and ignore her as you would a simple acquaintance, saying to throw you a line when she's single. There is absolutely nothing you can gain via noble means by sticking around her.

If the lack of possibility of obtaining her is not causing you any harm, be her friend and enjoy it - but be aware that when she does break up with her boyfriend, the chances of her hooking up with you are very very slim, as you will most likely fall into the friend zone soon, if that already hasn't happened.

Expletives, etc. It's funny because she's not really as physically attractive as this other girl that has been showing interest. I mean, she's cute and all, but my attraction is more based on the way our personalities mesh. I'm going to have to end this because I don't want to end up falling into the trap of messing around with some dude's chick. Whatever. There have got to be other sort of nerdy, kinda awkward, and driven cute girls out there. Now it's just a question of bumping into another.

try to find out how much she really likes her boyfriend...just flat out ask her...if she says he's ok or something that doesn't suggest she's really attached........do something so sweet that she can't resist you...she'll be like "my boyfriend has never done anything like that for me".......I brought a girl a rose everyday for a week...that worked well...or...sneak into the schools intercom system and play a sappy country song...get someone to deliver flowers to the classroom....I suggest the song Can't be your friend by Tim Rushlow...seriously... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7B63Vl5QXg thats a link to a startrek vid with the song in the background and here are the lyrics:
