Okay, so I am a 14 year old straight male.
I like girls, but I can't really tell people I do. For some reason its just embarrassing to me.
For example when my dad asks me "Do you like girls yet?" I always answer "Nope".
My sister somehow thinks I'm gay because I do not talk about girls. I don't want people to think I am gay, yet at the same time I try but can't "Come out" of the straight closet.

Anyone else experience this?

You are still very young. Why the pressure? You can tell people that, you know.

Wait. Why's it embarrassing? Is it a fear of conforming? You're probably best to just get to it now and accept who you are, and not be pressured by fears of how you look. Hiding isn't usually healthy, in the end.

Its kind of weird.
I love the way I look, and I don't feel shy around girls at all, I just... I dunno. Its embarrassing.. you know... being 'sexually' attracted to some one... just really weird and embarrassing to me.

And yes it is something to do with not conforming. I hate other teenagers! Those teenagers who go to parties, get drunk and so stupid things. Bah!

Well, you definitely don't have to be a part of that scene. But shame from being sexually attracted to someone else doesn't seem like it's going to do you much good. You certainly don't need to conform to have these urges; obviously, you're already different enough to the rest of the crowd and you can accept that, you may as well accept that your brain and body work with biological intentions, too. Parties are largely cultural, attraction is not. :D Unfortunately, it's a part of the human (and animal) condition. Try not to be ashamed of it.

Do you think you'll more readily accept it at an older age? Is this just a phase you hope to get past so you can also avoid teen drama? In that case, I applaud thee. Lying low doesn't sound like such a terrible idea for the time being.

Yes. I will definitely grow out of it. I don't like it when teens get a boyfriend/girlfriend and break up the next week, hook up with someone else and the chain continues. Its stupid. I'm going to wait until I'm like 18 before being able to comfortably go out there and get a girlfriend.

Ok, that's definitely more sensible. Though I want to advise if someone does come up between now and when you turn 18, it may be worth considering. One of my best friend's parents, who've been married forty some odd years to date, met when they were in high school, at the age of 16. One just never knows, and it's not worth passing up the opportunity should it arise. In that case, just listen to what your 'inner voice' might have to say about it, and you'll probably completely dodge that other stuff you don't like. This is just hypothetically speaking, of course.

Yup, although in my case I think it was exacerbated by being raised by my mother alone, which resulted in some noticeable traits associated with femininity.

I was the same way when I was your age. Sexuality made me feel uncomfortable. I am definitely straight, but it was hard for me to admit any feelings of it.

To share my own experience...

When I was in middle school and just beginning high school, I was the exact same way you are. It was the worst in the 5th and 6th grades, where I refused to be associated with guys, and by the time I was 12, 13 and 14, all I did was want to be friends. If anybody asked me out, it was an automatic "no." This went on for a while. I turned that around sometime in high school. I am super-satisfied with who I'm with now, and he is with me.

To make a long story short, you have plenty of time. There's no real pressure, because it's your life. Do your best not to get your family's judgments get in your way. You're doing a good job so far, making observations of others' failed relationships -- it sounds like you have a plan!

I don't like to say it around my family because my dad seems to get TOOOOO proud of it whenever I show it and he jokes about it too much. Like he caught me checking out this hispanic girls legs on the boardwalk in L.A. and then he said I was thinking "Oh yeah, that's what I'm talkin bout". And if he knew I preferred black girls, he'd joke about me liking that brown sugar or some other immature crap all the time.

to reveal to a parent.

yes i did and i still do. i am not sure why

for some reason, i can not reveal to my father that i am not the little asexual kid that he loved when i was very young. in my own case, i would feel that he would abandon me in his thoughts if he thought i loved someone in a sexual way.
i felt it was kind of dirty, and my dad had such high expectations of me that were created before i was interested in girls, that i thought i would lose him if i let him know i became an adult.

my parents never assaulted me or showed any perverse interest in me, but i never even wore shorts in front of them for fear that they would see my body and be attracted.

i was always super modest in front of my mother and father (father especially).
if i ever admitted i loved a girl, i thought that if he heard that, maybe he would abandon me as his favorite kid.

i really have not much insight into it, but i know that i never expressed to either of my parents, an interest in a girl.

Actually, I'd advise against that - and it's the reason that so many aspies on WP have problems.

Younger girls are quite forgiving of male stupidity. At young ages, we're all just learning to "date" and we often forget ourselves, say the wrong things, put our foot in it etc...

If you don't do anything at all until you're older, then all the girls will be "more experienced" - I don't mean sexually but conversationally. You'll find that they'll be much less tolerant of your mistakes.

Best to get in some early practice and make lots of mistakes while you can. You don't have to start kissing etc... Just try to find out what makes them tick, how you feel when you're around them, what to say - and what not to say.

It's a big part of growing up.

Fourteen was precisely the age where I started finding out that I could fancy a lot of girls and I gave up on the notion of hiding away my attraction to women.

It's good to be open about your attraction to girls as a teenager, because you're generally allowed to make mistakes. Even if you embarrass yourself trying to find a girlfriend people can look back on it and laugh it off, much easier than you could as an adult. That said, don't necessarily expect to find a girlfriend for your efforts, that's only if you're lucky.

I've like girls since I was in Kindergarten.
I don't feel uncomfortable around girl either, its just admitting it to people older than me (Parents, Uncles, cousins, ETC)
Heck, I'm talking to a girl on msn right now about girls. lol.
