Sweetleaf...that's a dark story you shared. Hopefully not a large amount of people were hurt. The fact we have school shootings show how others in society are trying to repress negative feelings...truly sieckening thought. All have credence and should be addressed to be happy.

TB, you raise some excellent points. And yes, it was ranting, but I needed tog et these thoughts out of my mind before they drove me crazy. SOmetimes I think it'd be easier living without emotions, but I know biologically they are needed for human survival so I work with them for optimum success when possible...look at the conversation started her as an example of that.

They claim we like routine too much but we, in the end, are forced to compromise more. Social routine is a garbled, drawn out mess in my opinion. It should be cut down to the essentials with a clearly defined subject for conversations to go well.

And Calvin and Hobbes shows how good and evil interact quite well. If only we could have humanity become only cooprative with one another instead of violent. That was spawned from evolutionary psychological survival skills, however, so it may never truly die out.

Spontaneous good will is treated with suspicion now. That deeply troubles me. Before government kept the poor aloft fellow man did, without need for bureacracy and an appropriate sharing of goods and needs were generally met.

Your last point about capitalism is pretty true, we need to feel insecure to keep the system aloft. Maybe someday we will find a way around that. I am not insecure in my music tastes or anything along those lines, but many are, and I have seen how they just want social acceptance through trend following rather than sharing timeless truth with friends.

To end on a more positive note though, we would've been institutionalized 50 years ago for not connecting to other people easily. I consider that a great sign of progress, along with the decline in homophobia and the higher availability of information now.

Ah yes, I nearly forgot.

FNord, I gave your thoughts some more thought and I have concluded yu're right. As deeply cynical as it sounded it is completely true...although we have to be able to ignore it to a degree to deal with other people. And religious people thyink :intelligent design" applis to us haha.

FNord is right.

I live in Panama, where the sound "aaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" is something I hear every 20 minutes or so. It is a sound people here make to anyone who is doing something considered gay. It can be anything, from wearing a pink shirt, to standing with your arms on your waist, to dying your hair because it is graying. You walk around you hear that sound all the time.

Sometimes, on Friday, when I am walking home, I see dozens of people in parking lot X or parking lot Y, just gathered there, drinking beer and screaming, and sometimes I hear the sound "ayyyyyyyyy" because someone did something considered gay. From time to time, I see members of the Panamanian elite, those few women considered white and beautiful inside jewelry stores or some other store for the rich waiting to be photographed by some poor guy with a camera who cannot talk to them, but he can salivate a little.

I'll tell you about June 2011, the last time I was with my family.

Day #1, my cousin, my brother, and my female cousin arrive from South Carolina. I am in Panama. I live here, and I don't have friends, nor do I want them.
That same day, my cousin, my brother and I go to a bar, where my brother starts talking to a bunch of guys from Germany doing business in this third world nightmare. The place is crowded, people are jumping, dancing, screaming, and I am bored as f**k.

From then on, it is my cousin, my brother talking about sex, sports, and drinking beer every night. And finding girls they can talk to. Usually about stupid s**t, like "where are you from? What do you do? Are you enjoying your time in Panama?"

Sometimes there was an exception to the "sex, beer, bars, nightclubs" rule, and they chose to go to casinos and throw their money away.

Day #3, we go to a restaurant, where my brother introduces us to his girlfriend. A girl who is divorced and asks very polite questions, like "how come most of you don't look alike?" and "you aren't rich, right? Some of you are poor like me?" My female cousin looks at me and asks me to stop eating and say something. I have been way too quiet since they arrived.

Day #4, I decide to stay home. My family gets pissed because I should be able to "make my own decisions", and go with my brother, my cousin, to bars, etc. In other words, "making my own decisions" stands for "making a decision that favors them". I decided to make a decision and buy a bunch of DVDs and stay at home and watch them.

I didn't visit my brother and my cousins until the night before they went back to South Carolina.

Re Fnord:

Except on the compassion bit though. No compassion seen there.
I try to see everyone a a 'teacher'. You can always get something positive out of an interaction however bad it is. Then when you realise you have learnt something from them, you can be thankful and respect them for it.

You can learn though by saying you don't want to be like them. I imagine that's what FNord did over time. That's a coping method, to figure out who you don't want to be influenced by.

I have "issues" with people, I deal with people rather well its just that they tend to annoy me greatly. For instance, if I'm working on something, I find it very annoying to have a couple of people wasting time talking about something as unimportant as sports. I also deal very badly with the "opinion over hard facts" crowd and it doesn't help that to most NTs it seems like a subjective opinion is raised onto some pedestal of "Do not question this ever" which makes me want to tear my hair out.

The question is, why does it affect you so much?

You have your opinion on things, it is fine. People have another and it is fine too. You cannot make them see the world through your eyes, oblige them to see what they do not want to see or can't see. You would be wasting precious energy and time. Just let it go.

I'm with Fnord. I find the majority annoying. I'd never go full misanthrope, though. Never give up, there are cool people.

would not say stupid...rather brainwashed, having lost their abilities through heavy conditioning.

I would never go full misanthrope...people are a biological need. Just gotta have a few people worth knowing and talking with.

I laughed about appreciating stupid people as well. You are right Lyll in the sense they are lost to their identity through conditioning. Still sad that most people are that conditioned for idiotic responses/beliefs.

I want to start another point here: how inattentive people are.

Their lack of awareness of their environment sensory awareness really irks me and makes me wonder how they make their lives work well.

Then there's their lack of structure...they have almost nothing outside of their biological clock and lose interest in things quickly, sounds like a miserable way to live.

Keeping this brief to allow others to extrapolate on their thoughts/experiences/rebuttals.

While I yearn to interact with more people on a level I would consider a deep friendship, the superficial interactions we're forced to endure on a daily basis is tedious, and often seemingly unnecessary. Sometimes I enjoy people in moderation only to discover they have jack sh-- under the hood that suffices bothering to get to know them better. Seldom convos steer towards something I'm interested in and its usually expected to try and entertain the other person with tidbits about whatever they like for their benefit. I also am disgusted by the gregarious amount of fakeness people put on. Most people are so obsessed with their image they cant be bothered to act how they really feel or really are. For the most part, my natural self is at least mostly on display and to not receive the same from people in a herd of people obsessed with the title of "cool" is incredibly distressing and disappointing. That's one aspect though I very much appreciate from the Asperger's community, there's no deception. We are what we are and that's how it is. No lies. This is also why I'm fond of animals like dogs.
