moving, for me, was the most protracted, complicated, arduous, backbreaking and mentally taxing things i've ever had to do. frankly, i don't want to EVER have to do it again!

The solution that worked for me: move.

(I'm a bit surprised that such a small town has a college.)

Not everyone can afford to move.

For me too, and I thought I wouldn't be able to live on my own at all.
But now I know that I am, and that moving has been worth it.

That's just my experience, and I'm not sure to what extent it applies to other people, but sometimes you have to do uncomfortable things in order to achieve something.

I moved to a rural area when I got married, and I can't tell you how stir crazy I get sometimes. My favorite places I've lived were always in walking distance of a reasonably sized downtown area. I could browse around, pick up a coffee, head to the library, find a local band, you name it.
The country has grown on me over the years, but I go completely stir crazy over the winter. I read a lot, watch movies, drink with my husband and his buddies occasionally, and spend way too much time online.

Have you considered being part of the local Church there ? Churches usually do a lot of activities with people.

Well, since I posted this, I found two thing I may be able to do! One is a euchre tournament every Wednesday, and the other is table tennis. Hopefully those are some things I can do. And honestly, I have thought about moving, but I want to finish up school at least, and then maybe decide on that. I was thinking of maybe moving to Grand Rapids, but that is on the back burner right now.
