This is totally normal - and it's called "mirroring" by psychologists. It is not a problem at all. It is used by 'normals' to show the other person that they are listening and empathize.

What is interesting to me is that not only I, but the rest of you as well, also mirror others' behavior. I have thought it odd that, given my AS, that I would not be able to mirror, when in fact I find myself doing it. And you all do it too - this is a good sign I think.

I'll add that my mom does this too. She will do it typicaly in a chinese resturant, she would take on parts of their accent. This annoys my dad greatly. Also when my mom was around her friend from puerto rico alot she would take on her accent and gestures.

um... so what's that verdict here? Do Apsies mirror more that NT's, or do we just notice it more?

I believe it is normal to mirror people to some exstent, regardless of being NT or AS. It is a good thing to do, as long as you do not totally copy them.

I pick up mannerisms, accents even whole personalities, it gets very confusing! I lose myself.
