People are boring as hell, the things they talk about constantly, yap yap yap YAP, ugh. Drives me crazy.
My own thoughts are far more interesting. I'm my own best friend.

I can totally relate to this guy.

I find myself more disappointed than bored. A very simple friendship is perfectly fine with me. I don't expect to be entertained by my friends. However, I often become disappointed.

For example I'll make a smart friend only to find out they're a right-wing fascist; maybe meet someone who is very kind only to find that they're a religious fundamentalist; get to know a person who's legitimately funny - but they abuse drugs; etc.

From my observation most people overlook core red flags if they really enjoy one aspect of a person. Not being social I find it nearly impossible to do this. Nor do I want to change what I'm willing to accept.

Interesting point, I can relate to this somewhat.

Nowadays, I get bored with new people so fast, I actually get mad at myself for it! ...Because if I just had a slower boredom speed, I could get to know a lot of people, learn about them, and have more fun than I do. The problem is, my interest or lack of interest in particular people is often totally out of my own control! So I can be willfully interested in getting to know someone, but then my instincts switch gears -- and suddenly I'm just not interested anymore, period.

I've had this habit of wanting to change my social group since I was a teenager. It's how I've lost touch with lots of people, some of whom were really good friends at the time. I'd find that the same things I used to love to do with them would get boring or annoying, and really just felt stupid. Or I'd get to know other people in different circles who may have had one similar interest or way of thinking as me, and suddenly I'd want to also be part of their circle of friends. I still liked my usual circle, but it was a little exciting finding another group that I had things in common with, that I maybe didn't share with my other friends. But then I'd get bored with them or they would say/do something I didn't like, or they just didn't accept me the way I thought they would so I'd move on.

While this is a good way of having many acquaintances, I've hardly made very many true friendships. Many friendships I thought were rue and long lasting have more or less turned into acquaintances.

Excuse me, but what is the problem with not having boring friends?

OK, we have to get along with boring people at times, but friends?

90% of the people bore me to death, and I'm sure the feeling is mutual in many of those cases. I'm reading a 1000 page tome about economic cycles which would bore 99.9% of the people. I also find hanging out at a bar exceedingly boring. Hell, hanging out in general.

Just look them in the eye and nod as if they were a baby trying to speak and you'll be fine.
