I have had my license for two years. I have never gotten in an accident or gotten a ticket.

People complain that I don't sit back and enjoy the ride, um while I am driving. I am always sitting up with my left hand on the steering wheel and my right hand on the stick ready for anything.

However when driving in the city I often get very nervous around intersections.

I have no since of street direction so I make wrong turns and drive off and wonder in the wrong direction. Once I am offcourse it makes my nervousness amplify. But besides navigation, I am a great driver and great at handling the vehicle especially in extreme conditions or situations.

I have not really met any other aspies, but based of off what I know about my self I think any aspie can drive a car itself, its just they made need to learn things to overcome anxiety around dense traffic situations.

I can't drive. Just being a passenger makes me disorientated and confused. Distractions, fatigue and trouble multi-tasking convince me I'd be unsafe on the road.

I'm aspie. If I could improve my mild CP, I can drive, but why should I care about driving at all anyway? I will just have my future wife drive me around.

I can drive, but not very much. It's kinda hard to explain. I can drive effortlessly around the small town that I live in, but not in the city. I have an extremely poor sense of direction. That coupled with the fact that my brain can't seem to keep up with everything going on around me makes it very hard to drive, or at least safely.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with being an aspie, or if it's just anxiety. It's not like I haven't been trying for the last several years to get over it, but I haven't made much progress. It's a major conflict in my life, as my husband doesn't understand it at all, and neither does anyone else. It seems to be a major contribution to my on-going depression.

My parents have just recently bought me a car, and have dumped a lot of money in it. I'm a little worried about learning to drive though. I have poor coordination. And I often cover or close my eyes, which wouldn't be good while I'm driving. I'm not used to looking up at everything, either. I'm afraid I will get distracted easy... and I'm terrible at directions or knowing where I am.
Also-- multiple lanes of traffic scare me! If there are two lanes and I'm riding in a car, I grow very nervous. I don't think I'd like having cars behind me while driving, either.

I'm hoping with a lot of practice, however, I'll be an okay driver.

when I was a child, I thought everyone felt the disorientation and the confusion I felt, so I learned to focus into what I was doing. I also thought that everyone had the problem with 'night blindness' to some extent. (I mean. . .it's dark!, duh!) So I just thought, 'if other people can do it, I suppose I can, too. I learned to do a lot of stuff because I focused real hard to find my way through all the confusion.

My driving record is clean. I may drive slow at times, but hey, it saves gas.

I'm 17, have my L's but I don't think I'm going to get my license. Driving for me is far too stressful. Extreme anxiety, sensory overload, OCD, paranoia and just general bad. I'm still trying to figure out how to break this to my parents though. It makes me feel so inferior and pathetic not being able to do something that a good 95% of the population can.

I've been in one accident, last year. I was going through an intersection, and someone ran a red light and hit me. It's made me paranoid, so I'm even more careful now than I was before. I even got pulled over for the first time a few weeks ago, for going too slow.

I usually go the speed limit. I consider myself a good driver.

I avoid driving at night. The passing cars' headlights hurt my eyes
