Yes, but remember there are some questions that really aren't questions. When someone at work says, "Hi, how are you?", they're not inviting you to open up with the nitty gritty details. The generic expected response is, "Good. How are you?", even if you're not "good". It's taken me years to resist the urge to answer the question honestly. It's such an awkward ritual...

Update:

The girl returned from work after being off sick from the accident and apologised for blanking me.

She said she was really upset and was about to burst out the room and have a big cry when I spoke to her.

We had a really nice chat. I said sorry for not realizing how bad she was feeling.
