Alcohols can make me depressed if I am lonely; I am ok if I had other problems though.

I used to have one to two drinks every Evening, before I was put on my Psyc Pills. The drinks helped me deal with the garbage that was going on at my Job and at home, at the time.

interestingly, i FEEL like i'm a better communicator after i've had a strong alcoholic drink. for the first half-hour or so, anyway. then i'm incoherent. i literally lose the ability to put sentences together. and, about a half hour after that, i fall asleep.

waste of good wiskey, really.

Would it be right to say Asperger teenagers probably don't drink as much as their NT counterparts? Mayeb it's the other way round, I don't know.

I don't feel I have the same attraction to drink as the people I know at college, who drink more than once a week on average. If drinking wasn't the only way that people my age socialised I would probably be able to go more than the usual one or two weeks without drinking.

Though I suppose that it does make me more social, more likely to start converstations with people I didn't really know before.

Drinking does make it somewhat easier for me to socialize, because it stops me from thinking. Thinking just gets in the way of everything.

I used to love drinking, it was my social life, but I eventually came to the conclusion that I had become an alcoholic. I no longer drink at all, a nice big coffee is all the social lubricant I need :D

I haven't gone past tasting the stuff. I've always thought that, if I need a substance to not be my normal self and be everyone's idear of social, I'm going to stick to being myself and not another drunk lemming. (No offense!) Even if I made contacts drunk, what would be the point? They definitely aren't going to like me sober, and I don't want to have to drink everytime I meet someone. I don't like what alcohol "provides" to society in general. In fact, I'd be a prohibitionist if it were practicable. I've been begged to drink in the past, largely because most think I'd be "hilarious drunk". So there's a bit of self-respect holding me back. In addition to the taste, I have concerns about the great unknown once the inhibitions are down, as I probably wouldn't be able to handle anything past a fender-bender in sober life.

Yeah I have the same problem

I am on regular medication and that makes it harder for me because i have low tolerance
If, however, I only have one or two then it does help me with interacting socially with those around me.

I definatly grow an extra mouth when I'm tanked. The beer floods my anxiety. Or maybe it's rum or shnaaps or wine or sometimes vodka but preferably not vodka b/c it tastes to much like rubbing alcohol, not implying that I've tasted rubbing alcohol but they both have the same sweet sweet aroma of death.

I'm only just starting to take my first steps back into drinking after three months of voluntary teetotalism...it's good now, I can keep it down to one or two nights a week. I was in serious danger of getting dependent before and then, well, I just got tired of it. I didn't miss it at all, until I started the gig working with this drag queen on Saturday nights...I slowly came to understand why all the other staff were throwing back Jagermaster shots behind the bar. After I was reliably informed that it tasted like Belgian cough medicine I began to join them.

I find it improves my dancing...or at least my perception of my dancing.

Booze definitely makes things a lot easier, but hangovers make things worse. I went to work with a hangover a few too many times, and when that happens I can't concentrate at all. The sound of my co worker's fingertips hitting the keyboard drives me nuts. And if another co-worker walks up to him for a little chat about nothing really, it sounds just like bla bla bla bla blabber bla. I just have to walk away instantly. I know it's not a very social thing to do, but if I don't leave the room, I may scream, or throw all the papers on my desk in his face, or both.

I'm hearing you loud and clear, I've not had vodka in almost six years now because you can hardly taste the stuff in a mixed drink, and you don't know how much you're having. As I found out the hard way.

My spirit of choice would be a gin and tonic. I have no idea why people say gin makes you depressed! It has absolutely the opposite effect on me. Oh...yeah, I forgot. I'm different.

I also loosen up when buzzed. But I prefer to ponder when drinking. It is when my train of thought is expanding.

If I have to really do the full hog socializing, alcohol and caffeine are my helpers. Sure, I drink alcohol responsibly. Caffiene.....no way. Pratically all my drinks contain caffenine.
