Why didn't many people like this Facebook status?
It can just be a little bit hurtful. Some Aspies wouldn't understand if they don't follow the herd mentality, and that's OK. But there are some Aspies here who follow the herd mentality, and there's no law to say that just because you have Asperger's/Autism it means you should not follow the herd mentality, or some Aspies seem to believe that NTs do it subconsciously but Aspies only force themselves to do it consciously. That's not true either, I have subconsciously got myself swallowed up into the NT world - and I like it.
Anyway, back to the thread. I have a Facebook friend who literally posts EVERYTHING he is doing, more so than all the other Facebook friends I have. He seems to have an intense obsession with buses, and always states down on Facebook what bus he is on and writes down it's numberplate and so on. Yes, I'm interested in buses too, but I don't post about them on Facebook 20 times a day, and I actually get bored with his posts keep coming up about the same thing every 20 minutes. But he still seems to get people liking his monotonous Facebook statuses. Yet I post only sometimes, about interesting stuff, and I'm lucky to get 1 like. And I often like other people's statuses, and I sometimes write a comment. So it's not like I don't show any interest in other people's statuses. I suppose I'm just not popular. I don't have anyone I don't know on Facebook. I have relatives, friends and colleagues. But I'm not sure if it's socially appropriate to TELL people to like your statuses, unless they're your close relatives or best friend. But my close relatives don't really go on Facebook.

Same! I think if I got 5 likes on my status I'd faint of shock!

Its always the same people that like. People are lame, judge, hold grudges etc. Who cares! I post and who ever likes likes and doesnt doesnt! I know what you mean! I also keep it for support groups and self help cuz literally FB is my only source of communication i have no social life. Married and kids but other than that not many people i can get advice from.
I just seem to take it personally when there are other people who are on Facebook and are always posting very pointless and uninteresting and repetitive stuff, like ''I am sitting on a bus'' or ''I have just brought a pack of sweets'', and they get, like, 4 likes. But when somebody like the OP posts something interesting like going to New York, you'd expect he (or she?) would get more likes and possibly a few ''have a lovely time!'' comments or something. It shows that you are doing something in your life, and it's interesting, and I thought that was what people liked to hear. I have a Facebook friend who literally self-loathes on Facebook and I thought people would get fed up, just like they did with me when I used to self-loathe when I was depressed. But this girl gets loads of comments of sympathy, even though a lot of posts she puts are obviously to get attention, like when she once put ''I'm going to run away, and I suppose nobody will care...'' and all that sort of thing.
And yet I post interesting stuff, like pictures of me and my boyfriend or me and a friend or something fascinating like lightening hitting the ground, or an interesting news article, or a useful tip on how to do something, or an achievement or a witty comment or joke, stuff like that. But I'm lucky to get 1 or 2 likes. It just gets weird. OK I might get more than 2 likes and a few comments on some of those things, but not as many as something like 20 likes and 32 comments like what some people get.
OP, I really do know how you feel. Really I do.
