My body doesn't tolerate caffeine, so I try to avoid it (I got really sick from having two cups a day for a week a few months ago), and even limit decaf tea to just the mornings.

I've tried alcohol to help with socialization, but it doesn't work particularily well. I'm still extremely quiet with it. One problem with drinking is that just one or two makes me think too much, so I second-guess my actions even more than usual.

Though that may be because I seem to have a high tolerance for the stuff. Around 4 weeks ago I had about 8 at a party (I probably would have had more, but they switched from Redhook to Coors, and it was about 2:00 AM at that point), and didn't get drunk at all or have a hangover.

I normally don't drink much, just 1-2 shots/beers once every week or two. Though I have had two a day (one with lunch, one with dinner) this weekend, as some sort of celebration for surviving the school year.

I dont like alcohol that much but helps me communicate with people, which sometimes i need.
I feel people perceive me more normal and intelligent when drunk, although i feel the exact opposite.
Does anyone else think alcohol makes them feel more like NTs?
(I am a llittle drunk right now LOL)

I can't stand to have a buzz around people, unless it is the 1 or 2 people I trust. It makes me even jumpier to have people in close proximity or if they touch me suddenly if I'm drunk. But I love just enough wine to relax me if I'm alone and in the mood for it. Then it calms me down. But I hate to get really drunk and usually get dizzy and puke.

I'm not entirely sure I'll ever know how it feels to be NT. Mind you, there's a few things I've tried in my lifetime that have made me feel a bit closer to how I perceive them. I won't elaborate on what those "few things" were, though...

alcohol and caffeine are my helpers. Sure, I drink alcohol responsibly. Caffiene.....no way. Pratically all my drinks contain caffenine.

It's 9:50pm and I'm craving a tall Irish Cream latte right now. It's just as well all the coffee places are closed by now...

I talk alot of crap when i'm drunk, but i actually think i make more sense and don't give a crap what i say from about 4/5 pints of Fosters in my gut :P I often lose my fear of dancing which is a bonus!

The downfall is when i wake up the next day i feel like a total idiot and get paranoid about the things i said to people lol.

I always try to drink when I am socialising. On average I guess I have 6-8 standard drinks in a night out. Alcohol makes me feel at ease in a social situation and I talk more when I'm drunk.
New years 2006 was the first time I drank to the point of throwing up , which is something I dont recommend  .

I love a little booze here and there. I have even amassed a small collection of exotic Scotch (my poison of choice) I buy on biz travels. A straight shot of the stuff on the rocks tastes like heaven after a hard day at work. Usually a glass or two is enough for me.

Alcohol does indeed help you throw your inhibitions away, but I rarely get the chance to use it to my advantage, since I rarely go to parties these days, and when I do, it's a drag since I'm usually the one who gets to drive... so I can't afford to go crazy with the booze. Sucks b*lls indeed. :?

That's OK...I'm cradling a strong white Nescafe right now. It's not much, but it's something. :D

f**k yeah. I can't survive in more club or party atmospheres without drinking. I become less sensitive to noise, and it makes me a bit more sociable. Kava can be useful to, but the affects are different.

Hrm. Obviously on this one I'm an oddball.

I hate drinking.

I hate the culture that makes people think getting drunk is cool, when actually it means letting your guard down, making yourself more vulnerable and putting yourself greatly at risk of public humiliation. Plus binge drinking makes you physically ill short term and long term.

To me it's a total waste of time. Having too much to drink doesn't make you less Aspie, it just makes you less prepared for a bad situation. If we're already naive and unable to read other people's reactions properly, we're even more likely to get hurt drunk.

If being completely wrecked is being more NT, thank God I'm not NT :S

There is a very good chance I already replied to this post, very good chance. But I'm just gonna say what I probably said before. Drinking is the s**t, and it goes great with AS. It kills anxiety, for the most part. I can enjoy any situation drunk as long as I like the people or atmosphere. And the burn in your stomach is a reminder that life, can be heartwarming and cozy at times. Lets not forget that even with all the f*****g deushebags in the world, we can still get s**t faced and tell those sons of b*****s to make like ostriches and stick their head back up their ass. Many people say that after you turn 21, the fun of getting drunk goes away, I have a feeling that won't be the case for me.
