Today is my birthday. I'm 38 and for some reason, been referring to myself as 38 for some months now. I'm like a little kid. You know, they're not just 10, they're nearly 11! I don't care much about getting older or birthdays. I find them a nuisance because everyone wants to know what you want (nothing) or what you want to do (again, nothing) and tease you about gray hair (who cares). Do I sound like a negative party-pooper? I have heard that in many cultures, birthdays are not even celebrated. How do the rest of you think of birthdays?

Happy Birthday, Bland. I share the same as you do about birthdays in part. On my next birthday I'll be 24 and I don't think I'll be celebrating it, the last one I celebrated was my 21st but then thats a milestone in birthdays. Just under 7 years to go and I will be celebrating my 30th, another milestone. I always get some presents every year though and usually request something related to music or something I need as it then saves you the effort of buying them.

Fiz, thirty is a fantastic age. I felt like the prime of my life was 27-36. Before then, I was too worried about unimportant things and after that, my energy left me!

Thanks, Kevv729. It's great to see your bear again! My invisible bunny salutes you!

Kevv hit it right. After a certain age, birthdays don't mean as much. My 31st a few weeks ago was nothing special at all. I worked, I came home and ate, then went to bed. Same as any other day. No big parties, no cake at work, no cards with money...you get the idea. And as time goes on, birthdays get to be days that remind you just how old you are and what little you have to look forward to. And I get plenty of that at work. Someone get me my cane.

Thanks for making me laugh! I don't feel like I'm middle aged, just overworked and underappreciated!
I did not do anything special on my B-day except spend more time on WrongPlanet. (I've been trying to limit my time here due to college work) That was reward enough.

Newchum, you're still a babe at 23! Enjoy the vigor of your youth. Don't waste your time on insecurity. (my elderly advice to ya)

Happy Birthday, Thepeaguy!!

I really don't like people singing happy birthday to me and all that stuff so I'm pretty content to have a bland birthday.

One of my workmates was walking through my office, and he said that you are very pretty. To the point, the fear of getting older is very common, in especially woman. It is probably Mother Nature way of saying keep young and beautiful if you want to be loved. It is a shame that Mother Nature does not care about human feeling, and curses human kind with all kind unhappiness.

I am not afraid of growing older. I like older people and do not care about gray hair and wrinkles. In fact, I do not have an appreciation for the plastic, Barbie doll look that seems to be so prevelent now (especially hate those fake, inflated bubble boobs you see everyone wearing on film and in mags). I've always enjoyed growing older. I think it's interesting how your face changes with time. (kinda freaky) I like maturity. (not sure if I have it, though) My husband gets better looking to me with age. I told him he is WAY HOTTER now than when we first met. He's glad I have weird tastes! Age is associated with wisdom and knowlege, prizes to be coveted. But I haven't felt any different since about age 20. (except I'm more tired and slightly lined with a few grays)

Boobles? That's funny!! Now I know what to call them! Hey, Lady! You're boobles are falling out! Hey, get those boobles under control, would ya! (sorry, but that's a riot!)

"Honey, would you buy me some boobles for my 40th b-day?" "No way, they're too expensive. Your own baubles will have to do."

(Maybe that 'all grown up' thing was a misnomer?)
