My family fell silent when I came into the room today, and I don't know what it means. It's hard not to take it personally, although my head knows I probably shouldn't. :oops:

Never know how to get out of this kind of thing when it happens. Wondering if it ever happens to any of you and what you do to get out of it?

First - thanks for wording it 'people' not family, even though you started it because of your family.

Happens to me, more times then I care to recall actually. And if I catch them (or one at least) looking at me oddly out of the corner of their eye and later
ask them about it - sometimes they will admit it was;
1. about me or
2. something they did not want me to know about
3. not prepared to talk to me about it yet - this could mean anything, but oddly, for some reason, people generally end up telling me things and I end up knowing more then I care to about some things.. 8O

I noticed that at former work sites.

How do you deal with it at the time? I've tried several strategies, but haven't hit on one that seems to work.

I deal with it by not showing up. :D

:razz: Hard to do in your own house, dork, but I've used that as a strategy too. {BTW...your smartassery makes me :) and I mean dork in affectionate way, but not in an I want to kiss you way... :lol:}

That happens to me, all the time. There could be many reasons that they might be doing it. They might be talking about me, or they might be talking about a cause that I don't believe in. It might also be, that they could be talking about other things, that I don't enjoy talking about, such as mature subject matter. I just try to take it, with a grain of salt.

awww....wuffles...you make me think there is a story behind your statement. But you didn't tell it, and I would very much like to hear.
