For me it would be a casino. I have gone a couple times and each time I am able to stay a bit longer. Not necessarily playing and spending money the whole time. But I think it is a perfect place for me to help get over my fear of being in large groups of people. My reasons are as follows:

1. You can leave whenever you want( instead of some functions)
2. To me it represents the kind of events that I try to avoid( large formal functions with lots of people)
3. Smoking is allowed and permitted inside( takes the edge off)
4. You can control the situation( if you want to make small talk to the person next to you or not is up to you)
5. Most people I have met are friendly and don't mind talking to strangers
6. People do not care if you make a spectacle or fool of yourself when you win, infact, that is to be expected

In conclusion, for me, anyways is that this is the perfect place to over come my social phobia.

What would yours be?

My best experiences with socializing have occurred in higher level classes in school. The students were more well-mannered, open-minded, and able to talk about a wide variety of subjects.

I guess that depends on where you live, or where the casino is. I know in Maine where I live, smoking is not allowed in public places such as restaurants and bars.

I don't smoke and never had any desire too. My mother use to smoke but quit 5 years ago, I remember that once I turned 18 she would ask me to go to the store for her to buy cigarettes but the aspie in me was uncomfortable with it.

I live in PA where pretty much the ONLY place where smoking is allowed indoors is in your private home and in the casinos

Sports,
It is organized, so you can know what to do
You can talk about the sport or ask questions about it
You have a team that is kinda like a family and tries to be nice (most of the time)
Nobody is obligated to go, so most people aren't grumpy about it.
