Lately Ive been thinking that I use laughter to respond during conversations in an inappropriate way. I never seem to offend anyone but I believe I choose to give a short laugh where actual words, or even silence, would be more appropriate. Does anyone else have this reaction? Any suggestions?

I tend to laugh at weird time b/c I'm thinking about stuff... good thing my friends are all weird anyways .

Maybe you could try purposely thinking of something that is NOT funny when you get the urge to laugh?

I usually dont laugh inappropriately because I'm thinking of something funny. (Though I used to have that problem.) I laugh as a response the way someone would say, "oh" or "I see" or "yeah", that sort of thing. I'm just afraid that people think I'm being rude or not listening. I've never been comfortable just not responding to people. I think I need to get used to not responding more often.

I tend to add an *lol* in online conversation when Im not sure how something will come across or what someone really meant.
Takes some of the pressure off somehow.
In real life, hmm..No I probably just dont say anything.

I actually do that quite a bit......I have gotten my fair share of odd looks for it. Sometimes i laugh at really horrible things, not sure why but yeah that usually does not go over too well. Like one time a while back my moms boyfriend red some article about someone dying from dropping a plugged in hair dryer in the bath tub while they where in it.....and i started laughing uncontrolably until I noticed they where looking at me weird.

me and my brothers started laughing uncontrolably at a funneral, the family thought we were basterd childerin
but there was nothing we could do but let it run
if your response is to laugh and no one cares then let it slide...there is more than enough other stuff we all can work on(everyone)
