i want a penpal. how do you get one?

What kind? I always think of handwritten letters when it comes to letters but I'm sure that is a thing of the past.

I do, too! One way would be to go to craigslist under "strictly platonic" and find someone looking for an e-mail/chat buddy. You can run into some of the most ... extraordinary(?) ... people that way! Another way would be to PM me!

I had a pen pal in China once, but I'm not sure if she ever got my letters because the government filtered the emails going from her school to mine (and from mine to hers) and all of her "replies" had absolutely nothing to do with any of the questions I asked. I think I would be interested in doing something similar again, so long as it is a real "pen pal-ship."

people that i knew from work before we all got laid off, i am pen pals with, due to the distance in miles between us now. i got lucky and managed to make one truly dedicated pen pal right here on WP.

i've had penpals from britain much but we stoped sending letters then i got one from a girl who used to go to my school and we are now penpals. we never talked in school and she lives in the next suburb over. its kinda weird we send mail to each other. real mail i mean not email. its more fun. see how long it lasts.

i think i recall there being adverts for penpals in magazines primarily targeted at women and in the news paper. you could check there or place your own.
