Some things I've come to realise about my weird sense of humour which could confuse people:
1. I'm inclined to laugh not only when I find something funny, but also when I'm stressed, surprised, angry, nervous, or sexually aroused. This isn't to suggest I laugh without fail during all these occasions, but just that I have been known to laugh as a reaction to these emotions.
2. I laugh at things that are tragic. This is a strange one for me to describe, as it's not laughter evoked from humour, but more surprise, shock, even absurdity (the more absurd the tragedy, the more likely I am to laugh).

The worst time my bizarre sense of humour manifested was many years ago when I was amongst a group of people and one of them just found out a relative died and they collapsed crying. Initially I felt like everyone else at the time; shocked, concerned, but then out of nowhere I made a coincidental observation apropos of nothing which elicited my amusement and I started laughing. I think it can probably be surmised that from that moment onward I was probably pegged as a psychopath by those people. I still think about that day with a feeling of absolute shame and think 'what the hell was wrong with me?' The saddest thing is my sense of humour has not changed. Things still catch me off guard, I laugh, and then I feel like crap because people ask me why the hell am I laughing, and I have no answer.

The same has happened to me on a few occasions. Then I realize it and get ashamed, but I don't know if try to explain it or do anything else.

Oh yeah, sometimes I find the wrong things hilarious. Not because they are funny in and of themselves but because of circumstances surrounding them or the way they are presented.

I've laughed about jokes made by others about so many inappropriate things, it's hard to count, but I'm sure I'm going to hell for it. They include racism-inspired summary executions, antisemitism, several different genocides, incest, murder, one thing I'm not allowed to talk about on this forum in a humorous context, and sometimes a combination of those. I also laughed a bit when, during The Hunger Games movie, the little girl died.

Usually, I respond very calmly to bad news at first, choosing to think it over before allowing myself to break down emotionally. When my grandfather died, I was the last person in the house along with my father to cry, even though he was one of my favourite family members and an actual friend. When my aunt died, I didn't cry for the first hours, and - we were on a holiday - made a comment about wanting to go home to see our new computer the next day.

I have a very inappropriate sense of humor but I think I also laugh out of a nervous habit like when I'm not sure how to respond, what to say, how to react ect. It has sometimes been misinterpreted as me being insensitive or cruel, mean, sick or even disturbed. I think others may not realize that my laughter isn't due to finding it humors because my sensor of humor is inappropriate & I sometimes joke about sick things

Reading these responses is reassuring. I've just assumed my sense of humour was weird due to Asperger's, but a while ago I read a book about ASD where a guy with Asperger's quoted finding the sound of sheep bleating in unison irresistably funny, that is he just laughed uncontrollably whenever he heard the sounds. But the way he wrote it made it sound as though he was self-conscious about it, and I thought Wow, dude, that is innocuous compared to the things I laugh at!

I had a moment like that, but while watching the last Harry Potter movie. It was the part where Harry finds out he has to die, and he talks with his parents' ghosts. The thing I was laughing at had little to do with the actual movie. Then I started laughing because I realised I was laughing at the most innapropriate part of the movie.

I tend to laugh at things I can relate to, like being suicidal. Although, usually when people around me are laughing at it, I try not to laugh, because I feel like being PC.

I laugh at a lot of stupid stuff even at 28 years old. Someone said I needed to grow up after I somehow laughed about condoms even though the joke wasn't even that funny at all. I just grew up laughing at that kind of stuff as a teen and somehow I had a hard time growing out of it. It's like some kind of gag reflex or something.

while reading your post i felt like it was a description of me :)
i also laugh at very innapropriate things. the worst was when my boyfriend came home and told me that he just recieved news that his mother committed suicide. i didnt think that was funny, i knew it was tragic, but the only thing that came out of me was the urge to laugh. i had to leave the room so he wouldnt see me smiling and giggling.
my guess is that its a way that I deal with tension - by supplying the opposite reaction, I don't get the full emotional blow of the negative event.

I'm oftentold I cross the line...a few minutes ago I made a joke about how the way I use my tissue it looks like a Rorscach ink test in blood...I find it hilarious but nobody else does for some odd reason.

I also sometimes go too far with sexual jokes/political jokes I;m told...context is frustrating.

I always laugh at inappropriate times. It's somewhat vexatious when people think I'm crazy or something. One of my favourite movies is this Hungarian movie called Taxidermia and it's actually the funniest movie I've ever seen, but my mum didn't agree. She said it sickened her. My sense of humour though is less inappropriate and more weird, or so I have been told - I always make jokes that are more like stories that I think are really funny but no one else laughs at them. Apparently they are quite strange.

I have a funny example...there was a news story involving a car crash where people were killed but I laughed..because it used the word "T-bone" in the same sentence as ice cream.
