I'm often confronted with my self-absorbed ways when in a social situation. I'm not inconsiderate, but I am wrapped up in my own feelings and issues, blind to how others are feeling and their issues. It's a very unattractive quality and I've been trying to curb it. I haven't been very successful. It gives a poor first impression, and also strains whatever relations I have managed to build.

Has anyone else come to acknowledge their self-absorbed ways, and found a way to change them?

I have a game I play while with the humans. I try to stay as quiet as possible. Since I tend to talk WAY too much I end up talking about the right amount. Since I started this game it seems to be working. I might have even made friends with one of the humans in the office where I work by accident.

Since it is a game I play by my rules for me it is fun. AND the humans seem to like me better as well. I will never BE a human, but at least being around them is more comfortable. And as you know, comfort is SO important!
