Why do some people turn nastier/more agressive as they get older?

I think most people change as they go through life. Some get nicer, some get nastier. A few stay the same. Very few are always kind, and even they can be self serving and selfish at times.

I don't think someone's basic inclination to be compassionate or to not care that much about others, or for a very few something uglier, generally changes, though occasionally in response to feeling/being mistreated, people get more uncaring/unkind.

But then there's the question how do some people go through something awful and respond by making sure they never do that to anyone, others go through something and feel mistreated and justified in taking it out on the world. I think that must be something very basic inside us from very early. Probably partly genetic, too.

Is there a specific situation you are referring to?

I know that feeling, I asked the exact same question to my autism accompanist and she explained to me that the kids are going through puberty.
Okay, I have no idea if this answers your question since I don't know what age group you were talking about and I think that people won't go through puberty in their 30s or 40s.

However, I still dislike the fact that this happens; When I started attending my little brother's elementary school my first 2 friends were 2 grades lower than me: I was in the 3rd grade and they were in the 1st.
When was in the 7th grade, one of those kids started having remarks about the statuses that I posted on Hyves.
I remember that I was an admin of a group that kind of became popular and people started making similar groups and I became angry that I posted a status about it and he responded with "Stop trying to act cool" it made no sense and it made me even angrier. The group itself got reported multiple times (I was 13 when I made this group and I called it "This apple can get more members than Justin Bieber" nowadays I regret making this group because it was pretty stupid)
It never got actually removed because I literally spammed the description that it wasn't meant to be something hateful towards Justin Bieber.
However, he kept saying "haha your group is deleted" and it was so annoying.
I remember that he managed to get a lot of Twitter followers so I asked him how he got them and the conversation went like this:
"You beat me in followers :o How did you do that?"
"Can you shut up for once with your pretty hair?" (Apperently it was a thing to give a sarcastic compliment when you made a comment like that)
"I just asked you a question"
"I don't need your questions"
After that he tweeted that fake companies and stuff were following him, not as answer to me but he just decided to tweet it.
I also remember that I once had to rush so I walked through the hallway and I walked past him and I think I accidentally bumped against him or whatever for some reason he randomly started shouting "Soooooo!" or "Whoa" or something, he acted like I pushed him and he responded like I was trying to act cool or something.
He also called me homo multiple times.
I'm not gay, he called me homo because most people see it as a swear word.

There will always be people like this but remember that there are also nice people in the world who make the world a better place and most of them appear in videos that Facebook pages use for likes.
But really, everyone in the world is worth it and there are people in the world who will always be nice to everyone and not become people who suddenly start being rude to you for no reason.

I always thought it was because of life experiences that people have to go through. We all go through hard times as we get older. Some people take this in their stride and don't let it affect them too much or in some rare cases it gives them greatly clarity, understanding and ambition in life. Other people however get over the difficulties they face in life by becoming hostile and withdrawn, almost as if to get their own back on the world.

That's just my perspective.
